Hi folks

i own a mk4 ibiza the tyres that are on my car just now are 205/45/16

i need new tyres and i have been offered 4 tyres

3 are brigdestone and 1 is continental and the size is 205/50/16

will these be ok? if the side walls are 5ml bigger? from the tyres that are on my car just now?

Ian

They won't be 5mm bigger - they'll be 5% of 205mm bigger.

The second number refers to the side wall height in ratio to the tyre width.

In your case the sidewalls will be 10.25mm taller - that's quite a big jump.

as stated

The sidewall is NOT 5mm bigger - it is 5% bigger.

5% of 205 is 10.25mm

Yes they should fit

Due to the higher profile the car will be going 3.4% faster for the same speedo reading.
