Under Bonnet Sound proofing - Leon

Quick question for ya all......

Under the Leon bonnet I have a large insulation/sound proofing material attached....

Now, I totally assume this is there for sound purposes. However, I'd have thought it'd make things worse heat-wise?

Has anyone removed it and can give the low down on consequences? Just thinking for the under-bonnet appearance for shows etc, and if the noise increase isnt a lot then it might be worth doing...

Any suggestions/advice would be great :)
Thanks

If it was causing problems with heat, it wouldn't be in there from the factory (indeed, like its there in every car pretty much). It's not going to do any harm to take it out, not going to make it loads louder either. And the underside of the bonnet isn't the pretties thing anyway so can't see why you 'd want it on display. But if you want to, go for it.

to be fair, the car as standard may or may not have heat issues. Once chipped/remapped, with larger turbo's etc etc the heat generated is going to be much more than std.....

As my car isnt standard i thought I'd ask about it...

Fair enough Pabs, good point. I still don't think it would make that much difference unless there was a vent in the bonnet to allow air through that way, a la Cosworth or something.

the only thing i would worry about is the heat effecting the paint on the bonnet? i know RobDon had taken his off but he may have put it back. Maybe a worth while mod now its comen up to summer?

I have removed it in most cars as they were filthy and heavy.
Was thinking of taking the LCR's one out for the summer but it is nice a clean and its really thin compared to the BMW's ones.

Still it is removing weight..... 'Every little helps!' :D

wicked cheers guys. Just thought it might be better overall really - my one is almost "ripped" in places where its caught onto components/clips in the engine bay, and its a bit mucky now too. If I take it off and clean up the underside of the bonnet it might just look a little better IMO, and if it helps heat issues then thats a bonus, so long as the sound doesnt deafen me! :)

I assume its easy to remove too - several clips and it falls off?
