I've just had my (cam belt) water pump and thermostat changed along with fresh coolant and now my car seems to take ages to warm up. Driving home from work last night the water temp needle never moved until I gave it a few beans down a by pass and then it rose to the usual 90 degrees (By the time I had reached the by pass I'd been driving for a good 15 mins and covered 7 or 8 miles). Also the oil temp sat at 60 degrees (bearing in mind that the coolant gauge does'nt begin to read until 60 degrees) until I reached the by pass and was able to speed up. It could be that it just seems strange to me because before this work was carried out my thermostat was knackered and could have been on it's way out for a while so I just got used to it only taking 5 mins to warm up. Is this normal? Any ideas?
