If Seat had any sense they would produce a real fire-breathing new Cupra based on the Audi R3.

I am certain that people who prefer the Audi brand would still opt for that, whilst allowing us to give Focus owners a real pasting! :D

Apparently it could be the end of high powered sport hatchs!

Focus RS....soon to bedropped.
Focus ST....soon to be Dropped
Civic type R.... soon to be Dropped

All due to emmissions etc! Apparently Honda are putting a 1.6lump in the new civic type R to be released in 2012..... (not 100% sure if it's accurate)

But if this is the case, then the cupra may never be coming back! :(

Civic Type R and ST died in December as both were only Euro IV emission standards. Focus ST will return as a 240Bhp 2 litre Ecoboost engine. VAG will use the 1.6 TSi but there are no plans to drop the EA113 engine just yet, well untill the EA888 high power versions come to fruition.

Simple fact is high power petrol demand has dropped off especially in this country with spiralling fuel cost's. SEAT's best sellers in the Leon range is still the FR TDi followed by the Ecomotive. Cupra sales have dropped off quite a bit hence maybe another reason to axe it and stick with just the Cupra R. I am sure the Cupra will return as SEAT will still need to compete with Renault, Focus ST, Astra VXR and such like as long as their is a business case for it. What we need is the VAG twin turbo derv :D

Of course the Cupra badge will be back on a mk3 Leon. someone will stick one on a 110bhp diesel and say it's fine because I like it.......

On a serious note, the MK3 Leon Cupra will probably be a 1.6 or 1.8 twin turbo I reckon. Just look at the Ibiza Cupra 1.4 twin charger 180.

Nath you evil man, you know i dont think he has made a single post since lol.

Dont they do a 1.8T for europe, they could just lump the superchager onto that and make 250bhp out of it with a few tweaks. I think 1.6 seems just a bit too small, even for the VW engineers and for a car the size of the leon.

And with regards to the type R, i know that Mugen played with one of those hybrid CRZ and dumped a supercharger on it whilst keeping it 1.5 and electric and got 200bhp out of it, so that would be an interesting and probably very efficient way for honda to go.

I heard VAG were moving away from the Supercharger and Turbo route to just turbo due to reliablilty issues but they may well do a twin turbo similar to BMW in both petrol and derv.

I'm pretty sure Vauxhall are doing a bi-turbo Astra soon too.

Yep I heard that to interesting that on the petrol front BMW have moved away from twin turbo to twin scroll on the updated 3 litre turbo and the new N20 2 litre turbo.

I'm waiting for my new FR TDI candy White. The dealer said should be any day now I'll get the call. Ordered at the start of April, so coming up to 12 weeks and can't wait. Should the dealer know if the car is built or in build process? as the feedback has been v poor so far and only a response via email when I've asked for any news.

I guess that means more waiting then!!

I ordered mine last week of March and got delivered to the dealers last week of May although not picking it up until next Friday. I would expect yours to be any day now. Give the dealer a ring should be built and on it's way.
