I'm going in to the dealer today as I need to check if the iPhone 4 fits and works on the cup holder adaptor kit, I've got the tech pack added to my car. If anyone knows then please let me know. So will check then, fingers crossed.

Works perfect! Fitted yesterday to my FL Cupra.

Ordered new LED, It seems I will be the first person to check how they flash

Called into dealer today and my FR was just coming off the transporter but can't have it until Monday. So excited!!

My first post on here, so hi everyone.

Has anyone got a complete list of what changes are between the current FR 170 and the new FR+ 170?

I was on the verge of ordering a manual Leon FR 170, with Technology pack, metallic paint and sunroof.

The dealer didn’t have full details of the FR+ yet, but thought all new orders for the 170 might now have to be the FR+

He also thought that the LED rear lights won’t be fitted to the initial few build weeks of the FR+

Personally I would rather not have the LED rears. They look good but apparently will cost £200+ each to replace. My employer has some vehicles with LED’s. Individual LED’s within the display have failed after a couple of years. Bulbs aren’t usually warrantied items. I would rather have conventional bulbs that can be cheaply replaced than find I need to spend £200+.

I’m trying to work out EXACTLY what I will lose or gain by trying to order a current spec FR and adding the technology pack, or wait for the FR+ with most of it included.

The dealer didn’t know if either the current FR or the FR+ media system could have speed camera locations or pre-planned routes loaded, or use postcodes.

How good is the media system (I’ve heard the navigation criticised, but not why)?

Does anyone have a link to a 2.1 media system user’s manual I can download to have a look?

Welcome to the Forum as to what the FR+ 17- get's over the FR 170:

Media System 2.2 (Has DAB and built in bluetooth)
18" Ibera Alloys
Xenons
Interior FR badges on the Seats, gearknob and dials have been removed.

All you loose other than a few badges is the front parking sensors that came with the Tech pack and cannot be had on their own.

If you really don't want LED's I would swap my standard non LED lights off of my brand new MY11 FR that I pick up next week :D

If you are thinking of retrofitting the LED rears, I dont know if it has to be done, but you may have change a setting with VAGCOM. I know on the Facelifts in byte 18 of Control Module 9, you can set the light configuration and LED is one of the settings. I had to change this when setting up my car to have DRLs and had to change it to stop the side lights coming on at the same time.

There will no doubt be some vagcom changes needed, its the wiring differences which I want to know about - vagcom is the easy bit

The trouble with byte 18 the default value is usually hidden, all you see is 00 and if you enter the wrong code the lights don’t work right and you don’t have a default value to return to.

I was planning to order the cloth and have leather put in. It’s cheaper and better than OEM leather anyway and I can have it embroidered with FR+ or something.

The dash badges aren’t that important to me. If I feel the need then maybe I can buy badges and a tube of glue. With 20+ years NCB I guess I can park OK, so don’t need the front sensors.

The HID are a must; I was ordering the technology pack to get them and treating the rest as a bonus. But only if the media system is worth having, rather than ordering just HID and fitting an aftermarket sat-nav unit. Which is better, the SEAT system, or aftermarket?

I think the LED unit looks nice, but stuff £400+ for a pair of rear light bulbs. It strikes me as a way to milk extra cash out of the customer rather than a genuine improvement.

My objection to the LED lights is the cost of replacement if one LED fails as opposed to the price of an ordinary bulb. The dealer claimed the LED’s should last the lifetime of the car. I’ll have a word with the dealer and find out if they include LED bulbs in the warranty. Also if the warranty would be affected by us swapping light units and there is any technical problems swapping them that a VAG-com can’t sort.

If the LED’s aren’t covered and there are no technical or warranty problems, then a swap may well be on.

The new media system 2.2 sounds better with 7 digit post code search - finally!
I was like you, the Xenon's were a given, but for the cost of the tech pack it made more sense to have it all and although not overly impressed with the nav sive the DAB radio/SD card reader and BT integrated makes it worth while.

Ref the LED tail lights being retro fitted to 'older' Leons.

You may have noticed that later versions of Golf GTIs and GTDs have LED tail lights as standard similar to those on the Golf R but a slightly lighter shade.
The early models of mk6 GTI (such as the one I have) originally had normal bulb type tail lamps and as soon as the R was shown with its LED lights there were owners of Golf getting ready to fathom out a retro fit.
There have been several problems documented so far. Owners of very early builds like mine can run the lights okay but there is a permanent bulb out light displayed on the dash along with a message on the trip computer display. There doesn't seem to be a way to code around this with VCDS and thus a new central electrics module is needed if you want to get rid of the bulb out light. £200, plus the £400+ for the lights! This will probably also affect a lot of older Leons attempting to fit FR+ tail lamps.
The question of wiring has been mentioned in a previous post ^^^. There have been several ways around this so far to allow the LED lamps to plug into the loom of the Golf. The connecors are different to the old type tail lights on the Golf mk6, so Kufatec have made looms to connect the lights (£££), or there are looms now available on ebay.de ready made which are cheaper, but the version I and many other UK owners have is made from eight sets of repair wires spliced together (so there's a different style connector at each end to allow it to plug into the loom and lights) to make four mini looms - one for each light unit. The mk6 Golf and Leon might possibly share similar looms and connectors which would certanly make the Leon retro fits easier as the hard work has been done sorting out the Golf connectors! We'll know what the Leon connectors look like as soon as someone takes delivery of an FR+ and kindly takes some photos of the wiring connectors on the lights.
I think the VCDS coding has been perfected on the cars with the correct central electrics controller so it will merely involve copying the Byte 18 codes used for the Golf I would imagine. This will likely only apply to 2010 on Leons with the very latest CAN BUS systems and controllers.

Leon FR+ details appeared on the SEAT website this mornning. Acording this the front parking sensors ARE fitted to the FR+

The Leon FR+ takes the Leon FR to the next level, combining the same stunning exterior with the electrifying performance of either 2.0 TDI CR 170PS or 2.0 TSI 211 PS. Other extras are striking 18'' 'Ibera' alloy wheels, Bi-xenon headlights with AFS, dual zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and ESP with XDS (electronic differential lock). And don't forget the SEAT Media System 2.2, which includes satellite navigation with 5'' colour touchscreen and dynamic route guidance, DAB radio, Bluetooth with voice control and audio streaming, and an SD card slot.
