Hi,
is it roughly possible to upgrade the standard Radio from 2013 Leon 1.4 TSI FR (the small color one) to Media System Plus?
I mean, I guess so, but how much work it would really be?
Prices for used units with CD in the glovebox are acceptable for me.

Also - is it possible to use Android Auto in the "new" configuration? That's why I'm planning to upgrade.

I was wondering if I could do this aswell as I've also got the 2013 1.4 fr model, anyone had any updates on this?

its possible but not easy as far as i am aware
these units are built the same as the units in the new current polo

when you swap the unit over
the component protection mode activates (basically anti theft mode) thus locking features on the radio to prevent a thief selling the radio

I remember reading that someone in germany managed it
but cant find the post

if you search the vw forum theres quite a few threads about it

Furthermore to lock issues, what the parts numbers that required? Harness? Screen? Gloves unit and all what we will need...
Thanks

assuming you have the small standard touch screen

you need the larger size touchscreen (unless you already have it)

a new master unit for the glovebox(a media system plus one)

gps navigation module if unit doesnt came with one

if you can get all the parts it should all be plug straight in with no modification apart from the problems you will encounter with the component lock

Even if you get the component lock turned off various people have issues with the units not fully functioning properly in regards to the navigation files supposedly being paired to the origin car

Have you thought of this as an option it runs off of the standard radio

it adds navigation ability and has hdmi compatibility
so might support some kind of phone mirroring not 100% though
