guys, just wondering, seeing as i need to get a new turbo anyway to replace my nackered K03s, which would cost me about £250, i was thinking, what would be the cost of upgrading to a K04 or similar unit? powerflow have now developed a manifold for the ibiza to take the K04 as far as i know, what other turbo options are there? and what other bits would i need to upgrade?! obviously i've got all the bits required for a K03s? would i need bigger injectors? manifold? bigger air filter etc? also would i need a completely new re-map? anyone had any experience? realistically, could it be done for about £1000?

maf, tip , injectors if you go ko4, manifold, downpipe alter the oil feeds, the ko4 route isn't a very easy diy job. you'd need to buy a ready establised kit really. plus it would need mapping again.
as for under 1k parts alone will be about that .

just my 2p ......

upgrade from k03s to am04 you would need a new map, tip, maf, filter, injectors and optional manifold if you want better flow... oh, and the turbo (also difference between stage 1 and 2 turbo's)

im taking mine back for a map tweak soon as when mine was mapped i had a leaking gasket

i rate them alot as they DO hold ALL the way, they absolutly pull like a train right into the redline (on a soft map too, keeps pulling harder and harder), in a different league to my old k03 setup, bonus as well as they have interchangable bearing cardtridges, so if your bearings go, you dont need to replace the whole unit .........

prices for this kit are in the AM04 thread (mike - banned, still has a few of these left and im still in contact with him)

whether its worth the upgrade from k03s is up to you .........

EDIT: since your already mapped by jabba, maybe they can just tweak your current map and charge mapping labour for it

thanks David, that's what i thought, maybe Jabba would do me a deal because i paid full whack for a map a month ago. i will have a look in the AM04 thread then. thanks for the help.

Just to be clear - the reason why he was banned was because he was trading on the forum.

However, we won't act as a go between for you....

nick, how come your after upgrading your turbo already anyway, i know your current one maybe dead, but havnt you only upgraded to k03s?? why not just get a replacement k03s and tone down the map so it lasts?? would be alot cheaper

How did your ko3s die?

I would be interested in getting a bigger turbo but for £1000 for a good turbo plus then manifold, injectors, new tip, downpipe remapp etc thats gotta be nearer 2k then you need someone to fit!

Does the AM04 kit come with injectors/maf and is it the correct size for the standard TIP?

If it did then just buy that straight swap and re-adjust your map at jabba.

So whats the K04 kit that JBS offer?

" This turbo is a direct replacement for the K03/K03s unit found on many engines in the VAG range.

While the exact specification of this turbo is a closely guarded secret, the basic premise is that the housing is K03s, but the internals are similar to a K04. This allows the turbo to be fitted to an otherwise standard car with just a remap, making it the perfect entry into the world of Big Turbos! "

Would that not be a better option?

 i know i know, not something i would normally say

he has literally only just finished his k03s setup though and probably spent a fair bit on that, so doing it all again this soon ......... deep pockets

think about contacting the likes of turbo dynamics as they are more than likely behind the scenes on building these anyhows... or have a browse by the Leon section where they discussed the hybrid k04 for LCR, as I would'nt be surprised if the same guy doing those does'nt do K04's into K03S housings.

worth a punt.

thnaks guys, killed my K03s because it was hitting 27psi in this cold weather, due to the forge actuator apparantly. it was fine at 25psi even under constant abuse, but i don't know if it's possible that because it's been so cold lately it was seeing 27psi?

youre right though David, i'be only just done the K03s, might just get a new one, swap it straight over and wait a few months and do a bigger turbo when i get bored.

 ....so if you're gonna get a bigger turbo anyway... why not do it now:confused: don't listen to david, he aint got a clue:p
listen to me, i'm your friend

That puts me off buying a forge actuator then!

i wouldn't recommend it! jabba said it is worth it on a bigger turbo though. such as the K04. i am inclined to keep it off the orad for a month or two and go bigger turbo as i do have a ca ri can use in the meantime, but i miss the boost!!!!!! :( if i got a new K03s it could be back on the road in a week!
