hi all im new to the would of seats i have just brought a seat arosa 1.4 auto as my first car but it is making a knocking noise from the engine you can hear is slightly as it is on tickover as you drive and put the car under load it is perfect pulls well no smoke and no noise but if you let go of the pedal and the revs are over 2000rpm you can hear the engine knocking i suspect maybe it needs the small ends replacing but i aint sure i heard somethink about a problem with the pistons wear the coating wears off or somethink plzzz help asap thanks all:think:

When you say 'knocking' do you mean a tapping which, speeds up under acceleration and then stops but, starts again when the revs drop?

hi under acceleration it sounds sweet as a nut its all the rest of the time it is defo a knocking not so much on idle but over 2000rpm if you lift off it knocks quite bad its wierd it is a 1.4 8v auto dont now whether that makes a difference lol :confused:

sounds stupid but you checked oil level lol
my 106 used to make the same noise so i decided to have a look inside the engine and when i went to drain the oil it was really low for some reason
once i topped it back up to full it ran perfectly no problems!

If you get a heavy clonk or what sounds like three or four heavy clonks close together when you suddenly lift off the pedal at speed, could just be a broken engine mount.

its defo a engine noise

Ok ArosaHannah, sounds potentially quite grim in that case.

It's a pity we can't post sounds here - or can we? You could record it on your phone and upload it for us to have a listen, if so.

You can host a video on Photobucket and post a link. Just make sure it isn't windy when you record it so we can hear it as clearly as possible! :)
