My MK1 leon TDI has developed a knocking noise when turning left, you can here it at 50mph plus but below 50mph nearer 30-40mph it is really loud. The faster you drive the faster the knock and vice versa!!!

Anyone got any ideas ?

Need any pointers pretty quick as I have a 400 mile round trip on Wednesday for a funeral and need to get this fixed.:censored::censored::censored::censored:

Check your wheel nuts aren't loose! I had a similar thing a while back. Turned out someone tried to steal my wheels but couldn't get the locking nuts off so they were just left loose. Jacked it up and the wheel almost fell off. I was driving on the motorway when I heard a knocking noise. Very lucky.

Agree with Willie sounds like CV joint as had these go a few times on previous cars. May be worth jacking the car up and seeing if the boot on the CV has split also.

Good news

Whilst looking at the car today i noticed that the 3 normal wheels nuts were loose!!!!!!

Gave them a tighten and all seems to be ok.

Any reason why they would start to come loose ?

Cheers for all the replies.
