V2 Spec Vs VZ2

Hi all

The few that have read my posts would know I was considering a VZ2 only to be swayed by a persuasive salesman that the V2 will be plenty for my needs and better value if not focused on the engine power.

A lot of people on this forum seem to be proper petrolheads or in love with driving as there are lots of VZ2 owners.

I am struggling to find a definitive list of differences between the 2 trims as the specs on the official site have changed a few times and the majority of videos are for the VZ2 trim or foreign editions.

Apart from the obvious horsepower and the adaptive dampers and the steering wheel and alloy design..what else is different?

Does the V2 come with electric adjusted and heated bucket seats? Heated steering wheel?

Are there drive profiles on the V2 and do they actually make a difference?

How is the ride comfort on the V2 compared to the VZ2? My '18 Leon FR was very harsh over bumpy roads!

Thanks all!

I can't comment on the rest, but my VZ Formentor feels more comfortable than Leon FR I own. And that Leon is currently on 16'' winter tyres (with summer tyres it should be even bigger difference).

I do think the bucket seats don't come on V2 as standard.

Have you checked the pdf brochure. It has the comparison matrix of different variants.
Hi

The UK site does not have a direct link to a brochure but luckily a quick Google search found it.

https://www.cupraofficial.co.uk › ...PDF
CUPRA FORMENTOR - CUPRA UK

It's from November 2020 so fairly recent. I checked the specs and it correctly says no electronic tailgate for V2.

Bucket leather seats, heated steering wheel and electronic adjusted seats for driver are there for the V2. Same wheels as the VZ2. Multilink suspension as standard.

Everything is similar to the VZ2 apart from the DCC and the safety packs.

The safety packs can be added as an option for about £700.

Same there is no V3 version with the same kit as VZ2 but in the 150bhp engine. Matrix LED would have been nice as the iQ lights were brilliant on the Golf.

Hope this thread helps some folk.

Thanks

Thanks @Agnes.Surrey

Your version was the latest one. Went through it just now...seems to be largely the same differences between the 2 specs.

It essentially looks almost identical to the VZ2 but without the extra ponies and fancy steering wheel with the Cupra buttons.

But I do like that look!!

Are the safety packs worth it or am I just asking for more software to go wrong?

I personally see safety packs as nuisance and would prefer the car without them. I would not pay extra to be annoyed and switch off gadgets every time.

It all depends on your preferences. Read more about them and decide. Most people hate Lane Assist and switch it off.

If it's anything like the Golf...switch it off as much as you like...comes back on after you restart

I paid extra for both additional safety packs for my V2 and I think they are worthwhile to get if you can afford it, for example the doors illuminate amber to warning you that there is a vehicle in your blind spot!

I have a V2 , I'm very much a petrolhead who loves his cars having owned several Alfa Romeo's over the years and also have a Boxster S , I decided to sell up on a number of the fleet and keep only one main family car and the Boxster S so I decided to buy a V2 - no doubt the VZ2 is a brilliant car with a fantastic engine and HP increase over the V2 , however in Ireland it's twice the price.

Main differences I can see if the twin exhaust , engine , DCC system and steering wheel - other than that they are very similar and certainly both fantastic looking credit to Cupra on that one, I love the V2 it's perfect for what I needed.

I read that from week 20 (17th of May) electric tailgate is coming back as option to V2. Also ambient lighting is going to be option instead of standard from week 24 (14th of June). Worth confirming it with UK dealer, because this is information from EU forum and spec if different.

Agree with that, I don't need the extra grunt so the V2 was the perfect spot in the range for me

I opted for a V2 over the VZ2. Cost wasn't an issue, more do with from experience, in reality, the smaller engine it's all you ever need day to day and is more than sufficient for most peoples needs. Ours is replacing our family Peugeot 3008 and my better half wouldn't want all the extra power.

I've had higher powered cars in the past (BMW M2 , Porsche Cayman, but found unless you are going for a weekend b road blast, which is limited given I have young children, living in a busy city, you can't actually use the power and is redundant 99% of the time.

The soon to be gone Peugeot 3008 has a 1.2 125bhp engine, but with most modern turbo engines, it is more than sufficient for day to day living unless you plan on hooning it around everywhere.

Contradicting what I have said above, I'm also in the market for a Lexus IS-F, just waiting for the right one to pop up. Prices seem to be on an upwards trajectory and with the bit old school engines being a dying breed, I can't help but want to scratch the itch.

+ 1 this is exactly what I found , the traffic even at the best of times is going to limit power use and I find the 150 is more than enough around the city and even on the motorway she has plenty of pull.

Then I have the Boxster is I feel the need (And get the time with the kids) to get out for a blast , particularly in the summer...

My thoughts exactly! How is the suspension on the V2...is it too firm?

Thanks.

I have had the same engine before on my Leon as well as the Golf so I know it is not a bad engine at all!

I agree with all your comments as well and I think it is the right choice for a family hauler with the occasional weekend trip!

How is the ride? Firm?

Can't comment yet, as i've yet to take delivery. Car is built and on route to the UK. Dealer expecting it late April/early May.

Pleased to report that order has gone through for the V2 in white and blue leather with the extra safety pack. Changed to 3 years after all so looking forward to my car buying already in 2.5 years from now!

Unfortunately....due to shortages of chips and backlog...looking at September delivery but will now for sure in a few weeks. So it will be a 2022 model year. Not sure about the changes you mentioned @Agnes.Surrey as the dealer was surprised to hear about the tailgate as they took it off as it was faulty in some cars.

Thanks all for the advice on the car and the leasing process.

The ride is good , it's comfortable and not overly firm but won't leave you wanting in cornering and manouvering either - she sits and corners well, very comfortable on the motorway. ACC system is really good.
