Hi folks,
Have just replaced my ignition amplifier on my V5 150 Toledo. This has resolved the constant misfire problem I was having on the 'C' cylinder.
However I still have an issue where if the car is started after about 10 minutes it will cut out and not start for about an hour.

When trying to start the car while its hot I noticed the rev counter does not move is this normal? I am sure when it does start the rev counter moves ie around 300 rpm.
The only problem on vagcom is a g28 engine speed sensor?
Could the sensor be the problem?
Any ideas would be gladly received.
Thanks

Another term for engine speed is revolutions per minutes, or 'revs'. The engine speed sensor is probably what is stopping the rev counter from working.

There is also a possibility that if the ECU uses this sensor to do more than just the rev counter, its not going to be helping with the running of the car.

Get the sensor replaced, see if the problem dissappears.

Definitely Engine speed sensor

Hi Robwen,

This is probably a bit of a late edition to this thread but I would just add that your problem is definitely a engine speed sensor.

I had exactly the same problem with my V5. It would run fine when cold but soon as it had warmed up, if I stopped anywhere and turned off the engine it would not start again until it had cooled down a bit.

Highly annoying.

My friendly neighbourhood mechanic ran a VAS 5051 diagnostic tool on the car and verified the sensor was faulty.

Soon as it was replaced the problem was fixed.
