The unit he fixes to the vacuum control purge valve which I assume to
Be the coolant pump is making a clicking noise when sat at idle. This normal ?

That is the carbon canister not the coolant pump!

The coolant pump in on the engine itself driven by belt.


It's common for the CC to click when the engine is running, nothing to worry about, unless it bothers you and it can be removed.
 
Yip as above the clicking is normal, it really annoys me but I just liv with it
 
You can remove it but there's a lot of things to take out before that can be removed so I'd just leave it
