Hi all - i realise i have asked a query about my gearbox in this same section which a few people wouldve seen the car within but wanted to start a new thread which has the link to the entire build of my almost finished clio S172 / TT / Cupra-R or what ever you want to call it :)

Probably best though to ignore the 1st couple of pages as its a bit of bickering and general crap-chat

- THE BUILD THREAD -

Admin - i did take a look at where this thread could possibly go but couldnt decide so plonked it in here. If its an issue please feel free to move it.

Many thanks

I think the comment is that with all the effort that goes into it, it would be a shame 'not' to have 300bhp

And no, a 250bhp 1.8T will not "piss all over" a 172, you'll have understeered off into the undergrowth long before.... unless you mean traffic light GP hero? ;)

But the project is a good one, I've been following it for ages on CS

No i meant the post sounded as if he just didnt think it would be worth it because he didnt like the project which i think is very good and diffrent and will most probably be better than a turbo 172 as my freind has a kit from ktec racing which is now smoking and has lost 5th gear. I meant on the road it would piss all over the 172 not in track terms as the 172 handles like a dream :D

Hi all - Sorry if some of the comments on CS caused a prob, im sure its more banter than anything else.. But yes, the Cup handles amazingly well, havnt really noticed a difference in handling with the engine at all BUT it hasnt been properly driven yet though as its still fragile...

Once the fuel pump is on later next week then ill go and get it fully mapped to its 265/270ish brake potential... then in time will save and go the whole hog on internals to get it to 350. Regardless of what people say i think 350 in the cup would be TOO much and as mork says, i'd be saying hi to many trees!.. Going to change the gear box oil now... hoping the couple of suspect noises i started to hear will be solved by a drain/refill.... im fearing the worst but hey, worth a try first..

Dan: yes, the renault boxes arent the best.. well, alot of people say they are FINE depending on how you drive, but in reality every one accidently sometimes gives their box a bit of abuse and thats when the renaults just give up...
