Are the connections on the quad lock the same on the back? like the pins for nav etc in the same place.

Yeah thats what the new software looks like we use on VAG cars now. It might just be the lay out of the programme you are using. At another glance that seems to be the case.
Have you tried coding in the telephone part? Maybe plug in your old radio, get the code from that and then reenter it into the new radio?

He's using VCDS/vag com not ODIS.
It is now available from the likes of eBay but is still **** slow and a pain to use.
VAS-PC and VCDS make a far better combo.
As for the faults is see if you can remove the functions in long coding helper. If it's flagging a fault with a component you know you don't have installed then remove it from the coding and the fault should erase.
