vag com newbie

hi,

ive installed vag com 406(i think?) i have installed the drivers.

i did an open scan, but it did not come up with anything! I know for a fact that my car has at least 1 fault!!

the epc light has been on for months!!

when I do a controller module test it eventually says no response.

please help ASAP

the interface is fine.

when i scan th modules the options in the bottom are disabled! and when i scan the egine-01 module...it says no response from controller!

Ive read somewhere about having to set vag-com into 'dumb' mode. I think that lets you read error codes but not program anything into the car. Apparently you have to set Vag-com to dumb mode if your using a 'dumb' lead, which I believe most of the ebay leads are.

Im not sure how you do this, but if you can find out how then its worth a try.

If Im wrong here someone please stop me, Im new to this too, Im just sharing what I think I know.

have you done the whole port thing???

check it on port 001, 002, 003 & 004... see if it picks up on any of them.. (I have an older version, so I dunno if it's applicable to the one your using... worth a try tho..)

(PS I have a ebay USB cable.. and it works fine in Mikes Ibiza, TonyK's and Festers Leon...)

Dunno about that mate...

If it's found it on a port then it should be able to check it, can you do any logs at all?? cause if you can then it should deffo be able to do a check on it.

Can't offer any more advice there mate, I've not come across this issue before.

Make sure the COM port is set to the right one on the settings on VAG COM. Then hit test. I had to change my com port on device manager coz it was gettin conflictions with something else, then changed the COM port on vag com and it was hunky dorey.

well you said your epc light is on have you had your maf off at all

The Maf sensor, its a bit of the air regulatory system. All i really know is it breaks a lot. I know nothing else, google will probably tell you more.

Try using different drivers, change com ports and keep testing. I have to try the process of loading vagcom and turning the ignition on several times before it works sometimes despite mine now being saved with a serial number.
