On certain road surfaces my 2011 Sport suffers really badly with vibrations to the point that it makes my ears feel really uncomfortable. What are these models like on the motorway? I want to visit my friend but I don't think I could do the journey if my ears were to be subjected to the awful vibrations for the whole 2 hours! We have at east 3 roads on the Island that are particularly bad. One is worse on the outward journey than the return for some strange reason!

Seat don't really do sound deadening unfortunately. You should think yourself lucky as i have a mk4 which is awful!

Was your corsa not as bad then?

No it wasn't! It did vibrate a bit, but not to the same extent as the Ibiza. It only did it on one road whereas the Ibiza has 3 it likes to go to town on! Road noise is not a problem, its the vibrations that get right in my head and ears, making it really uncomfortable on those roads.

Why is the thread title vibration/road noise then  Anyway, the vibration will be caused by the lack of deadening on the metal panels of the car which in turn means that rough roads create vibrations through the panels and into the interior. Small, cheap car - just something you have to deal with or strip the interior and sound deaden/proof the car

Actually, the worst roads are the ones that have been recently resurfaced. Rougher and older road surfaces don't seem to produce the same effect.

Really depends on what compound they are using to make the surface. Some new roads are made from horrible stuff with large bits of gravel which makes for a rough road surface. Some new ones even rely on the cars compacting the top layer of gravel into the base course which is really cheap and nasty.

Change from the stock tyres, i've gto fk452's on atm and they're noticeably quieter than the stock bridgestone potenzas.

failing that, the standard stereo is pretty good lol

Not a ptoblem at all on my SE with 155/60-15 tyres and standard suspension.
Does TTX have the same problem on the same roads?
Could your tyres be overinflated? Do you have an accurate gauge? Don't trust the one at a petrol station!

Yes, I have an automatic pump that checks the pressures too. I think TTX has experienced it in his, but we don't use the same roads as our commutes are to different places. I will ask him when I next see him.

Nightflight - those tyres sound expensive! But worth it to stop the awful noise I should think!!

I found the Potenza's quite noisy, still have them on the back unfortunately but the Goodyears I put on the front did reduce it.
