Standard on the Alana HU. You can turn it off if you want. Mines done it from new for 4 years now and can be annoying sometimes but i'm too lazy to disable it.

Look in your radio manual. It tells you about it in there.

You can adjust the ammount it turns up or disable it completely.

There are also some other settings you can change in the menu such as the start-up volume.

On the motorway noise... don't know what you're talking about... ours is quiet!

So am I!

Seems nice, quiet and smooth to me!

Even when we've driven at 120mph and up to 138mph its been pretty quiet to me! Might be your tyres that are causing the noise?

No way is the Ibiza a quiet car when cruising lol Fair enough mines the Cupra TDI with what feels like no suspension but even still its a cheaply put together car.

Even the works Astra diesels are a quieter smoother drive which is poor lol

Agreed. I had an astra 'H' and its miles better than my ibiza for quietness. Never had a single rattle either. The again, it's a bigger, more expensive car so is'nt a direct competetor.

:D

Lol. No it wasn't. Not far off though...

I had a Skoda Felicia and then a Peugeot 306.

I think the Cordoba is slightly more aerodynamic too btw... might have a small effect on the noise.

Anyway it's perfectly ok for us and I would say it is far from noisy! I can't hear the engine on the motorway and only a bit of noise from the tyres and a little wind noise.

Well, I've got Pirelli P5000's, but I've not tried any other tyres, so I have nothing to compare them too...

Even with 'quiet' tyres, they are still horrifically noisey. Seat forgot about sound deadening i think, all they have put in is the odd patch of bitumen on the floorplan and some cheap foam in the rear quarters

To be fair, I did buy the "dog" of the Ibiza range, @ £1500, so I'm not exactly expecting an audiophile to have designed the thing.

Having said that, I don't know how it's so god damn loud!!
I wonder if the fabia's/polo's make as much noise....

All ibizas will be sound proofed using the same technique, so it doesn't matter whether you have the most basic model or the range topper.

The fabia is much quieter than the ibiza from what i remember. The polo wouldn't allowed to be as noisey as the ibiza, otherwise, why would anybody buy the polo considering it was quite a bit more expensive....

Anyway, i'm on a mission to make my ibiza a quiet cruiser (untill i get bored and trade it in lol)
