VW Polo Exhaust Manifold

Hi,

Got a crack on the exhaust manifold of my Ibiza 1.4 (AEX) SXE, its beyond repair and needs replacing. New one is a £100 so looking for one from a breakers, my mechanic reckons the manifold from a 1.4 polo of the same year is the same.

Can anyone confirm this ?

if you take it from an AEX engined polo... it will be

just collected manifold from breakers and it looks totally different from how i remember the one on my Seat looking, apparently came off a 1998 Polo 1.4 AEX.

make sure they've given you the right one.... .loads of 1.6 ones that look identical from the top 'engine wise'

say again ? the 1.6 engine looks the same as the 1.4 or the manifolds from a 1.6 look the same as the manifold from a 1.4 ?

the engine looks very similar....

the euro car parts website seems to suggegst the 1.4 AEX polo was discontinued in 1997.

its probably different then, going with it looking different
dont forget gaskets to go with it all.
100 pounds doesnt seem too much how much did you pay at the scrappers?

paid £25 a the breakers, mechanic is a long time friend of mine so is doing the work for me at cost. Will drop the manifold off later and see if it fits.

if your lucky the breakers might take it back if theyve got the right one in and just swap it... doubt that theyll give a refund tho im affraid...

And thats if it is the worng one in the first place

breakers already agreed to take it back or replace it. Says they are always getting calls for manifolds for ibizas

Its all good, turned out to be the same, only with the addition of a lambada sensor.
