Filled up last night, economy on the last tank was 52mpg calculated.
The computer reckoned I got more like 55mpg.

Mine hovers around the 52mpg mark by calculation and by computer ( within 0.5mpg )

Strange how different cars computers show such different errors in mpg.

Mine is still out by some margin  Latest fill-up measures at 56.66mpg while the computer said 62.0mpg 'since refuel' - I see this can be corrected by VCDS and I think I'll get it done at the dealer since work will pay....

1.4tsi FR (140). Who needs a diesel?

Actual MPG from tank is 51.42 - the car gave it at 53.2 "since refuel". 80% motorway driving...

New personal record yesterday... I went from Cranfield, which is some 5 miles away from junction 13 on M1, to Heathrow Terminal 2 in some traffic. I've got an average of 65 mpg up until I hit very heavy traffic in the last 10 miles before Heathrow. I did not do more than 70 mph, most of the journey being at 60 mpg due to the speed restrictions and me having two years left of my "probationary period" until I can take another Speed Awareness course... :cartman:

Mpg, don't fret.

After feeling a bit miffed like most of you guys regarding overoptimistic fuel expectations and on-board-computers not recording correct figures I made myself accept howminimal fuel cost is in relation to the overall cost of running a car. For most of us, depreciation cost will be many times the difference between whether we get 47mpg or 54mpg; work it out if you dont believe me, factor in the other costs e.g servicing, tyres, etc and m.p.g is nothing except a marketing tool for manufacturers. Once you accept this, driving the Leon for its other attributes becomes an even greater pleasure.

I second that, and it also made me wonder how I drive daily.

If the display is showing the computer info with mpg consumption, then I tend to not drive as relaxed, because i WANT those figures to be high. On the other hand, when the display is just showing what radio station I'm listening to, then it is truly more enjoyable to just drive instead of focusing on an insignificant number. Of course, there's occasions where it is just plain fun to see how economic you can drive and afterwards have some sort of "Ooooh my car is really eco friendly".

My mpg has plummeted since putting the 19" rims back on. I reckon I was getting around 40 miles per tank extra on 18" winter tyres (which probably do have a lower rolling resistance, to be fair).

Mine too... but could be down to me finally being able to stretch its legs properly with some sticky rubber :D

Have you been driving like an old woman again? You've got an FR for the God's sake. Push that damn pedal harder

I'm not sure you're familiar with the A14! :p

Thanks to average speed cameras for a 16 mile stretch and the sheer amount of HGV's you can barely get over 55 most days. If I leave early enough I just manage to get to work without sitting in traffic for 2 hrs. It's the same on the way home too.

TBH I wish I had opted for DSG as I think it would work much better with the ACC, stop/start and the flexibility of the engine. Much better in heavy traffic.

My 'non-commute' MPG isn't as good

Meh another dissapointing drive home from work.... 70.3MPG for the first 20 miles. Then down to 65MPG when the road opened up and there was less traffic.

How?!?
Sticking to 60mph all the way?

Within half a mile of the office car park I'm on a dual carraigeway with a 50mph speed limit and average speed cameras for the first few miles. It then goes to a 70mph limit but again with average speed cameras. Tonight I just had the ACC set on 70 but I probs done 60-65 for 15 miles owing to light/medium traffic but I didnt really need to brake.

I'm not purposefully driving Miss Daisy, I'm just driving as per traffic and speed cameras will allow.

EDIT: Even in the morning when traffic is much better and I can get a move on ,I can still get 62-64 MPG on the way to work.
