Warranty question

Did a search but couldn't find anything on this. During warranty periods do the dealers charge to read off error codes, or do I need to find some kind person with a VAG-COM?

My diagnostic light came on this morning though with no noticable loss of performance after having the dash panel replaced under warranty yesterday to fix a sticking speedo. I'm really hoping it's not the ECU playing up again due to the engine chip as it's been fine for the last 3-4 months since the people who did the remap managed to fix it :(

They shouldn't charge you for investigating. But they mey not be very helpfull if they find out its been chipped.

They probably know as I told them last year when I had ECU problems, mainly through my lack of experience I let it slip. I should have gone back to the ppl I bought it off first as they eventually sorted it through the chipping companies warranty after having a quote of £1740 for the dealer to fault and replace the ECU unit on voided warranty.

Anyway in a good way it's got worse and the engine is now making a loud chattering sound from the front passenger side of the engine bay when the turbo is in use, so I'm hoping that nothing is wrong with the ECU and it's just something mechanical.

Yeah sorry £740 for the ECU after telling them it'd been chipped :) but they initially wanted another £1000 on top to transport it back to SEAT UK to be properly diagnosed.
