Water Leak Trace Help Please

Have an 02 1.6 Leon and am aware of the water leak problems with the leon but I am struggling to pin the source down. Went on hols for3 weeks without using car and came back to find drivers and rear passenger footwell swimming. Never happened before and now re-occurs every time it rains. Have cleaned door holes and seals and put kitchen paper on door sills which were dry after spell of rain. Any suggestions or hints at identifying the source ? TIA

Mine had this. It's getting in through the front bulkhead, dripping down through a cable gap and running into the drivers footwell. Nothing to do with door seals. Try sealing the area around where the cabling. It took dealers 5 times to fix this aswell, so best of luck!

A clue for bulkhead leaks is water running down / dripping off the pedals. Can be caused by a blocked drain hole on driver's side - so the water has got to go somewhere..........

Checked pedals this am after overnight deluge and nothing there. Both door sills dry - back seat driver side there is a puddle and parked downhill so it should not have run there from front. Suspect rear door seal. Can the rear door seal leak be difficult to see ?

From what I have read, the leak shows in the back footwell first because the under carpets are thinner in the back than the front, it will be worth looking under the main carpets to see which is holding the most water, I read that as much as 1 litre of water can be held under the front carpet without it coming through.

The drain hole under the bonnet right in the drivers corner of the bulk head may be blocked, if it is coming in through here it will not always run down the pedals, it sometimes runs down behind the footrest next to the accelerator pedal so you won't always see it.

This happened on my S3 and was as simple as leaves blocking the drain hole so it comes in the bulk head through the cable runs.

Worth checking anyway.

I had water in the back of my old 02 LC and it was traced to the door seals which were replaced under warranty.
