Right, just thought id share this with you guys as i need to get it off my chest!

Iv had my LC for a few months now and as the weather is getting worse iv noticed that there is a horrible damp smell that wont go away. Also the other nite i got in my car and the screen was frozen, on the inside! I have also noticed water getting into my footwells so did a quick search and found the common cause for this-mainly being the inner door card seals.

So i thought as im not too busy today i would investigate the problem and reseal my doors. Fairly simple job.. he says!

I decided to do my rears 1st.

I removed my outer door card, and then i thought i would go balls out and do the job properly by removing the inner one and drying the door out and unblocking the drain holes etc.. Heres where the fun began lol.

I removed the 10mm bolts holding the card on. I then removed the window motor thinking it would all come out. 2 seconds later i heard something ping and a load of bits fall off in the bottom of my door. i looked through one of the grommet holes and saw the cables had gone slack and my mechanism had fallen to pieces

I managed to get the card out in the end by drilling the rivots out that hold the runner to the door card so i could then see what was going on. The window then dropped down and i was confronted by a simple clip that holds the mechanism to the window, and this was all i hav to unclip to get the card out [:@]

I didnt have a clue how to put the mechanism back together so i had to remove the other side to see how it all went, but this time i just pushed the clip out that holds the window to the mechanism lol.

I struggled big time to put it back together and the whole time i was doin it i was thinkin to myself i shouldnt have to be doin this, its just because of my idiocy i am!

Anyway managed to get it all back together ok and cleaned my drain holes out and resealed my door cards properly. Did the front ones too but just ran a line of sealer round the metal door cards as opposed to taking them off!

Hopefully this will cure my damp smell and reduce the moisture inside the car. its rained since and havn't noticed any water comming in so fingers crossed!

Sorry for the essay but thought id let you all know how iv spent my saturday lol.

Glad to hear you sorted it mate!!!

If you sorted the leak out i would pull the carpets up but not out so they can dry better and also mop up as much water as you can i did this 2 years ago and my carperts are bone dry now and dont smell!!!

re pulling up the carpets , i need to do this too, is it easy to do?

been pretty lucky so far as far as water leaks go, its just the outer sill that gets wet on mine when it rains it doesnt make it into the car HOWEVER it didnt help when i left my window open a few nights a go and it pissed down all night
sent my little lad out to start the car one morning and he come running back in dad dad you've left your window open!. but i never leave my windows open someone must have smashed it i thought, looked out and it was 3/4's down lol
needless to say it was pissed wet through on the drivers side, dash, clocks, seat floor, so ive been driving round sat on towels for 2 days with a damp arse but its all good now :D
