Here is a quick photo of the rear install for the Polo GTI. The pump is gravity fed from the bottle and so has to have it's intake point below the bottle bottom. Luckily on the Polo the boot section is very deep and allows for this. Full credit to Statllers as they made a really neat job of the install and pipework. *

Still not fully installed yet as I'm having a custom pipe fitted to house the injector and it has to be fabricated first. [B)]

Currently awaiting parts to finish. Will probably be Monday before I can get the car back in as the garage is busy tomorrow and I'm at Autosport International on Saturday. Don't worry, as soon as I have news I'll update. Looking good so far, the install is very neat and tidy. You'd have to look very closely to spot anything different under the bonnet.[B)]
 
The water meth looks very impressive hurdy. Will be interested to see temps + bhp gains. Out of interest, how much is this setting you back, if you don't mind?

I read earlier they quoted you with +20 whp increase. Have your mechanic mentioned anything for the torque increase? Is it going to be below 37kgs or more?

Torque should be around +20lbft.

It is all subjective at the moment as I think this will be the first 1.4TSI to be measured against all mods from stock to stage 2 + WMI on the same dyno.

The new controller arrived this afternoon and so Steve fitted it and put some distilled water in to test it. Worked perfectly and even giving it the beans for quite a while the oil temps stayed under 100oC, which is much better than the 110oC+ I was seeing on spirited runs. The car ran much smoother and felt better at the middle/top of the rev range. Then came the water/meth mix!.....
Holy sh*t!!! it was like sticking another small engine to help mine under the bonnet.With the roads dry in parts today, I was able to give it the full throttle and even at 70mph+ was still getting wheel spin. The middle and top end of the rev range is MUCH stronger than before and Steve says that after a few days it will feel even better.
To say I'm impressed is an understatement, even though we'd been out in the car for a 15 min blast, when I topped up the bottle it had only used 120ml of mixture, so I know the bottle will last a fair while as it is about 3 litres to the brim.
Logs should get done tomorrow and then the dyno may have to wait as Statllers have had a refurb and the electrics aren't plumbed back into the dyno yet
Steve's promised it will be plumbed back in before the end of the week.

Bum dyno says muchos extra bhp and torque. Should hopefully see around 15-17whp and 25-28lbft increase.(based on a scaled down result of improvements on an ED30)

Steve calls it a "Black Ops" install as under the bonnet and in the boot you literally wouldn't spot the difference. In the cabin you definitely see the controller though When that light comes on green it's like KITT in Pursuit Mode.

The car is still on setting B on the REVO, so I haven't even thought about trying it on the aggressive race setting C, which it is designed for.

The really good sign is that there isn't even a sniff of clutch slip either.

Almost forgot to mention that the controller allows you to set the minimum boost level where the water/meth comes in and another to set where the water/meth is fully on. My car has only had a proprietary setting and i'm sure some fine tuning on the dyno will optimise the benefits. The nozzle on mine is good for up to a 450bhp car, so should never really be at full capacity for my baby motor.

Still cannot believe the improvement it has made to how the car runs.....it's just .....better, smoother, more eager to rev. Like a well set-up ED30 on a crisp cool morning, but all the time![B)]

Where did you get this work done mate I might be a little bit tempted :p. Will have to have a little travel to Sheffield and meet up see your beast
 
I've been planning on this with mine for ages, but I thought id let john be the guinea pig. I don't expect gains to be as large as johns because I have the intercooler/radiator package already, but id still expect some nice Hp
 
Sounds like a great improvement. Supposing this would only be worthwhile on modified cars with a larger rad/intercooler as well. or would it work just as well on a normal mapped Cupra.

Also, you mentioned about just adding distilled water, does that mean that you could just do that and use it for cleaning/smoothness use until you fancied going down the strip or showing off to your mates as long as you wanted or was it just for a quick test?

Also interest in the prices and what not. Im near Sheff so if they need another doner lol :)

As for a price - I just asked for the work to be done and so am now waiting for the price. Like vRSy says, I was the guinea pig for the 1.4TSi water/meth install, so a few adjustments were done as the install went along. Now they know exactly what nozzle to fit, running locations and tap in points of electrical and boost hoses, best injection location etc etc. and by the end of the week will know what gains are possible, how the logs look and the best controller settings to get the best from it all. I'll be down to see Steve tomorrow and will ask for a fitting price.[B)]

The system would work well with any level of tune and can run with either just distilled water or a 50/50 mix of water meth. As we all know, the 1.4TSI runs very hot and Steve believes the water/meth install will help keep the engine cooler and hence healthier under normal running conditions. In his ED30 he also saw fuel economy increase of over 10%, so in the long run it should save on fuel too. The cleaning benefits of water/meth are also well documented and it basically helps keep the internals clear of the dreaded "coking" that direct injection engines like ours can suffer from.

Cheers mate, I think there is a benefit to have this fitted to all 1.4 TSI engine'd cars, especially for the people that are into modifying them. Very keen to find out pricing etc
