Evening all.

Been using Heritage wax for past year or so, really love it. Easy and gives good results on my luna grey. So as a result im not that familiar with paste waxes.

I fancy some dodo juice.. but im open to suggestions, nothing too expensive, my budget cap really is about 60 absolute max for wax.

Dodo juice do...

Light fantasic - Soft

Diamond white - Hard

Supernatural- Not sure

I will be applying by hand, most likely on top on either srp/egp or lime prime. Thoughts, imput, suggestions, accusations, insults.. all welcome.

This is the best ive got really, thats two layers of heritage wax. I think its pretty good for silver, but there is more to be had i feel.

If your looking into Dodo Juice products, which are fantastic, then Rain forest Rub is a good bet.

Its a soft wax which suits all colours of cars.

If your budget is £60 then supernatural may just be out of your budget??

I can push it out to supernatural price range.. if its worth it..

Whats the difference in application, shine, long lasting between hard and soft?

Just looked at prices and you can get the plastic pot of supernatural for £65, the fancy wooden pot is around £90 but is very nice :).

You will find when applying a soft wax by hand it will tend to be thicker as opposed to a hard wax which will go on more evenly and thinner. However harder waxes are tougher to apply and remove, generally. In theory a soft wax will give a glossier finish but wont last as long as a hard wax, but really at this level the difference isnt massively noticeable.

As retrogrrl said, why not try the dodo sample pots, see which takes your fancy.

On the Dodo waxes hard vs soft there isn't that much difference in durability or looks. Hard will stop you overloading the applicator, so you will get a thinner layer meaning easier to buff off (also get more applications from a pot). Soft will be easier to scoop out, but that can lead you to overload the applicator and get too thick a layer, meaning harder to buff off as it can cake on. Soft is better for bare hand applying though as you can easily scoop it out the pot.

Supernatural is a bit different and is at the harder end and needs a bit longer cure time sitting on the paint than the others and is step up in durability and looks (slightly wetter and more blingy IMO).

Was going to say that in terms of DoDo Juice waxes there isnt a lot in it between hard and soft. There is slightly more carnuba in the hard waxes and thats what makes them harder in texture. The actual durability isnt massively different and the difference in looks is a fraction more gloss from the soft but only a smidgen...

I prefer the soft (by definition) DoDo waxes if i am honest, my first DoDo wax was Hard Candy which is hard and i was really impressed by that. I then tried RB's Juiced Edition which gave the same results but was nicer to work with. I have more recently tried Purple Haze Pro which goes on much like RBJE but imo gives a slightly better finish and should last a bit longer due to the sealant ingredients (making it a hybrid wax/sealant).

SN is their top end wax and you can get panel pots of that for £15. applied correctly you should be able to get around 10 layers of wax from 1 panel pot of SN on an Ibiza.
