Wax Wizard

Hi All,

I was messing with my car today (rechipping and recoupling my boost gauge and doing some vag dyno runs) and Matt1e was over helping out with it all and i noticed how much my paintwork has actually faded against his shiney new car!!

SO, what i was thinking was it is time for me to get some wax wizard wash, and some oxidation cleaner and some caranuber wax,

Is this the best to get??, anyone got some handy hints and tips and do's and dont's with it??, or is there something else i should be using??,

The other problem i have got is i can find it anywhere on the web to order the darn stuff!!, i see a lot of car clubs offer 15% discount for being a member?, does seatcupra do anything like that with wax wizard?

I am new to all this car cleaning malarkey, but its time to clean it properly rather than the monthly trip through shell's rather scratchey car wash!!:D

Cheers all !

Mosser,
I would probably go with autoglym super resin polish ... topped with autoglym extra gloss. Given the amount of miles you drive I would use that rather than carnauba wax. I have not personally tried any autoglym products but they're higly recommended by people posting from the UK on the http://www.autopia-carport.com web site.

Here is URL for autoglym:
http://www.autoglym.co.uk/frame2.html

there is a UK distributor locator ...

I have got autoglym stuff - it is ok. I should have my full complement of wax wizard wax sometime this week, will let you know what I think. I went in on a group buy that they had going on scoobynet and have quite a few goodies thrown in.

bazzer there's no such wax available as 100% carnauba wax, as it would be rock solid and unable to be applied.

Do you mean no other additives

I got some of the TurtleWax Emerald Carnauba stuff a couple of weeks ago. It definitely says 100% Carnauba on the tin, but I'm not sure what grade etc etc. There is no way I'd be spending upwards of £100 on wax etc, just silly IMHO. I just can't see how Turtle Wax can charge £9 for something that is made pretty much of the same stuff as other products that cost many times that. I know there is going to be a quality difference somewhere, but still seems a large discrepency to me, so is it that TurtleWax are pulling a fast one, or Zymol / Wax Wizard are taking the p1ss with the prices, I suspect its somewhere in the middle

Anyway, I have only used it once on the car (the car is only 3 weeks old), but it seems pretty good, beads up nicely in rain etc, and doesn't mark up the plastic too much if you accidentally get some on there, tho I'm not a cleaning fanatic and i wouldnt mind betting thats the last the car will see of the wax applicator till the end of the summer :D

Wax Wizard stuff is hand made that's why it is so expensive, it takes a lot of effort to make one tin, but I still can't bring myself to buy any

Being hand made will obviously make it a lot more expensive and I appreciate that time is money and they have to make a profit, but it doesn't necesarily make it perform better. I've no doubt it is better that the TurtleWax stuff, and if you want perfection then it's probably worth the outlay, but like you I can't bring myself to spend that type of money on wax when it would pay for something far more exciting, a track day for example! :D

i use the turtle was. Not bad, smears a little sometimes.

Not a patch on waxwizard, not in the same league but I reckon its better than Autoglym (used that for about 10yrs)

btw -anyone know a good glass cleaner? Autoglym sucks as do most of the others. Best one I seem to have found is one from the Windolean range.

Mosser,

I use "Mothers Pure Carnauba" which I got sent from USA. Was a pain in the arse to organise, took ages to arrive, and I'm sure it isn't as good as WW stuff. It does however meet my needs, and was much cheaper.

I've heard good reviews about "Meguiars" carnauba products from Scoobynet guys who work/live in USA. Now available here via this website .

Much cheaper ~ unfortunately I can only see the "cleaner wax" in solid form, or the pure carnauba in liquid......but it's apparently the same stuff(?).

Expensive? Not really when the kit will last you around 3 or 4 yrs and that is if you wax every month. All in all its around £2 per application or less and all products are free from nasty solvents, silicones and abrasives.

If your car is going pink...I can always make you up a special oil solution to work in and the cost around a mere £20.

If you buy a kit I'll throw that in for FREE and if you aint happy with the results you merely send back the kit within 10 days of receiving and get a full refund!!!:) Bear in mind that we spare no expense in using the finest and purest ingredients. All our products are non hazardous, non flammable etc and are EDIBLE.

The Emerald wax uses carauba wax but not 100%. Read the back of the bottle carefully and you'll see a HAZ CHEM warning that it is flammable. This product uses a tad over 10% by volume carauba wax, various emulsifying agents, silicones and carnauba wax with around 80% by volume is hydrocarbon solvent!!!!!!

Use one of our waxes and suddenly using in excess of 30% by volume caranuaba wax, no silicones, no abrasives and no solvents and its harmless to you and the environment. As Syphon as his wax has 50% by volume carnauba wax.

Another benefit of using a natural wax is that if by chance you accientally or purpose spread some wax onto black plastic trim IT WILL NOT STAIN IT WHITE!!!! Nor will it leave any white residue along cracks or crevices or join lines and can be applied in direct sunlight on hot paint if required and even be buffed several days later without any effort whatsoever.

I even offer a full preparation service and I am often in your area. I can always wax your car and come back the fillowing week to buff it with the merest of effort. Try any of these things with an off the shelve product.

Furthermore each pot of wax will provide around 45 to 55 complete waxing of a Mondeo sized estate car...thats 4 full years of waxing done every month. Expensive? Nah nott really.

The culture here in the UK is that we like our cars and spend tons on looking after them but always with the cheapest of products. On the continent its the other way around...they want quality fiorst and foremost and worry about the price later.

Is £110 really a lot of money to spend on an expensive car over a four yr period? If it is then you should be driving a second hand ten yr old car.

I just wonder how many of you buy the cheapest of cheap foods when shopping? Maybe thats how you can afford a Leon by buying baked beans at 7p a tin in Tesco etc etc. After all a baked bean is a baked bean is it not? Or do you buy the cheapest of cheap household articles like foam backed carpets for your lounge etc....course you dont...you want quality!

Think about Mosser?
