Webasto, Defa,... [preheaters]

Anyone have any experience with engine pre-heaters?

Been thinking about buying an electric one. So the morning starts wouldn't be so stressful to the engine.

Does anybody here know about any similar products? The Webasto Thermotop is way too expensive for my taste, so any cheaper option would be ok. I'd rather spend that money on more engine mods

Well u got both Webasto and Eberspächer running on diesel.
This type can come with an remote control, or you can control it using your phone(at least "Eber")!
With the DEFA package you have to be near an power outlet..

Been thinking about getting an "Eber" myself as this would ease the stress on the motor on cold days. Also it would help me get the motor started in the first place as this can be hard in low temperatures.. Last winter it dropped all the way down to -44C at my place!

But in my 150PD with 4WD I could easily get a problem finding a place to mount it..
More research needs to be done.

gravedigging was needed as Im looking for a preheater myself.
Thought SCN was the place to look, but were wrong.

Thats why, in say 'bout 4 years time, when the next fella wanting a preheater tries the search function on SCN, he will actually find it!

Or something like that.

Don't get me wrong mate I'm not knocking you, especially for being one of the few people who know how to use the search function. It just seemed a little bit strange and doesn't happen often.
As crappy as the British weather is I don't think it gets cold enough to warrant us having pre-heaters installed which is why there's little on the subject.
Tdiclub might have more answers as it's American based and has more varied members, it could be that there is more info on there.
