Hey everyone.
Just completed an almost perfect 500 mile trip in my 2006 Altea xl 2.0tdi which has 58k on the clock. car went really well apart from an annoying occasional problem;
when I am doing 70mph in 6th gear on a straight piece of motorway, not accelerating or decelerating (just holding it steady) the car will sometimes give the feeling like you have just let your foot off the accelerator then gone back on it to the same position as before but only for a split second, a sort of hesitation i suppose.
But apart from that the car drives perfectly, accelerates hard without problem etc.
I did have some hesitation problems a couple of months before but this was obvious as when you accelerated in say 3rd gear it would only get to 50mph then hesitate badly and go no faster. This i had fixed (eventually) by Seat Tonbridge Wells, turning out to be a blocked fuel filter, in their opinion through use of supermarket diesel.
as the car only hesitates about twice in 500 miles I dont see the point in taking it to Seat as im sure they will be unable to replicate fault.
I am eager to sort it out even though its only minor as we will be going to the south of France in it in a month so dont fancy a break down then!
My first thought was possibly the rest of what ever sludge was in the tank is starting to block the new fuel filter and so I may change it again if I can work out how, or possibly this is the very early start of MAF failure?
Has anyone else had a similar problem to me? any thoughts would be appreciated especially from anyone who thinks this sounds familiar.
Cheers
Rob
