weird noise

pulled up on drive after driving from work 2night and came across a weird squeaking noise.

went to my mates and noticed as i was braking and becoming stationary the noise was occuring. At first i thought was interior trim cos tends to be a tad squeaky bit mucked about and definately not that. At the moment i cant really see anything cos pitch black and have more or less bounced on the car to see if suspension was iffy but no noise from that either. Im going to have a look in the morning when can see what im doing but has anyone got any rough ideas. possible dirt in brakes?

how ya doin mate I have an R aswell and a few things I`v sorted squeaks from are firstly the sort of lined panel under the stearing column the one which slide in and out as you raise or lower the stearing hieght, the black plastic surround on the inside of the boot lid Both of these have been fixed by jamming a tiny piece of rubber between them and the opposing surface. now the less obvious ones anti roll bar buses replaced, a tiny squeak from one of the bumper mounts and I`v put vaseline round the door seal rubbers on all 4 doors this made a hell of a difference to the small noises in the car.
Dont know if any of these are your cause but just thought I`d point them out as problem areas hope you find the problem as its one of the most annoying things possible having unexplained noises.

Oh by the way to find the anti rolll bar squeak I had to stand on the car where the bonnet clips into (bonnet up of course) and sort of vibrate the car any large movement didnt do it only tiny vibrations. happy searching!

yeh ive found 2 things that could of been causing it.

trim near the pedals was squeking like a pig so that stopped 80% of it. Then i jacked it up and found 1 of them chip carton wedged near my wheel which was squeking a tad plus all the dirt underneath from crap weeather and motorway.

Pointless worry really lol. Just thought id post a thread as i couldnt do it last night, cheers mate

is this still sorted? just did a search for 'squeaking' cause mine started playing up today. thought it was the fan belt but not sure. it occurs (most of the time) when i've JUST braked to a stop i.e. in traffic but then stays unitl i pull away again. coming from the front outside the cabin... hmm?? thoughts?

yeh its sorted mate. My head was done in so when my mate got down and looked he mucked about with some trim near pedals and stopped most the noise. Then when i heard it again i jacked it up and id got a polysteirine chip carton jammed in wheel which was also squeeking. just daft problem. But it squeeks ne way, trims not the best quality in leons i think
