Hello, I'm from Belgium and since a few weeks I'm the happy owner of a 2010 Seat Ibiza FR BocaNegra ( yes, that combination is possible over here).
Last week I had it tuned by a very well-known and reputable company. The day after the remap the EPC light came on. Assuming it had something to do with the tuning I called the company, who were very helpful and asked to take the car back to them so they could have a look. The fault code they read was 17978: engine start blocked by immobilizer (no other codes). They have since then tried everything (remap with a newer version, looking for checksum errors, revert back to orignal map,...), but to no avail. I must add the car drives perfectly and starts first turn of the key every time, but EPC light and code reappear within the first mile after being cleared.
I don't want to attack the tuning company, as they have been extremely helpful about this and have spent hours trying to find a solution; neither do I want to claim warranty from the dealer (I know a remap invalidates drivetrain warranty and I'm an honest guy, so not going to lie; they could probably tell anyway).
Any ideas what could be the problem? With that code, the car shouldn't start, should it? Is it a result of the remap, or just a funny coincidence?
Little question on the side: the car now delivers 198 hp and 314 Nm of torque (between 2500 and 3500 rpm, after that it tails off slowly to around 280 Nm). Should I ask the tuner to limit that torque (to under 300Nm) to protect the DSG, or will it cope? They say it's ok, but I want to be sure...
Greets,
Sven
