I bought a set from a vag trade retailer convesion kit cost me about 15 quid fits well clears better!

I got aero wipers from VW dealer for about 24quid. I think you pay the extra £1 for the little yellow stickers to tell you when the wipers are 'worn out'. Got a Fabia rear wiper too. It is a huge improvement to the standard, child designed one.

i still cant tell when they are worn or not...
i guess when the windscreen begins to smear

Yeah pretty much. As and when really. Apparently you are supposed to change wipers every 6 months or something stupid like that, but there is not a need for that. As long as you clean your car regularly, clean the debris out of the wipers and maintain the wiper blades, you should only change them when they smear or insufficiently clear the screen.
I removed the little stickers off mine as they started to turn to yellow after about a week so that would mean changing the blades every month. Pretty useless in my opinion.
