Placed an order for an FR184 with lease company in November 2012. They finally got around to placing a confirmed order with a dealer at the turn of the year. The dealer claimed that they had a delivery date on 19/04/2013 - my existing contract expires at the beginning of May. I wasn't convinced of the date supplied, so I phoned the dealer posing as a new customer to ask re availability of FR184, and the salesman said June, possibly late May!

While working offsite I popped into Seat Dealership at Congresbury to view MK3 Leon that was on tour. Their saleman said July for the FR184. Phoned my local dealer (Plymouth) on the day that they had the MK3 in, and he said they expected some FR184 deliveries late March, and in all likelihood those with fewer options chosen.

So that's clear then!

I was tempted to re-order and get the 150, on maybe a shorter contact, and then get the 184 next time. However, I chose the 184 initially as that was the car that I wanted. If I have to wait a couple of months, the so be it. Obviously, a delay into 2014 would be a no no. For now, I'll just have to keep an eye on things.

I am also interested in the 2.0 184, and here in belgium the ETA is 06/2013. It seems nobody knows for sure the dates, or reasons for this delay...

First I want to test drive it, that is for sure

June certainly seems to be the date that I'm seeing the most from various sources, including members of this forum.

As for the reason for the delay, I've heard that the delay is due to a component issue. By that I'm assuming that the required component is experiencing a delay, rather than due a technical fault.

It could be something to do with engine availability ... after all it's being launched in the Leon FR, MK7 Golf GTD, A3 AND the new Octavia VRS by this summer. That's a lot of demand to keep up with.

No doubt it'll make its way into the TT, A4, A6, Passat, Scirocco, Beetle, Exeo etc next year.

Been making enquiries re a new 1.8 TSi with DSG & one dealer told me that SEAT were now quoting end of year deliveries. He said that they were having "issues" with this particular engine & that it was affecting Audi & VW too. Can anyone else verify? I was nearly ready to put an order in, but I can't wait that long.

WildWestHero, what kind of costs were you getting for a lease on the mk3?

Or maybe you don't know yet...

Did you go directly through Seat for leasing or do you have some preferred company?

Just interested, I bought my Leon mk2 in '06 but interested to see the benefits of leasing over getting another loan.

Have you seen one? perdonally, I don't think the pictures do the interior justice...the FR that was doing the rounds looks and feels fantastic inside..a massive step over my current and very 'plasticky' leon!

No i havent seen one in the flesh. An excuse to go see one methinks

JK1, apologies for the tardiness of my reply. My lease purchase is through work, and we use a company called Leaseplan. Quoted monthly quoted cost was ~£450 for FR184 with metallic paint and 18's - I haven't signed anything yet, so I guess this could still change. The term is 3 years, covers all servicing, tyres, road tax, windscreen. The mileage is unlimited, as I believe it's 'pooled' across all of our lease purchase vehicles. No up front deposit. Final payment, if I want the vehicle, I believe is ~£8K. My dad usually buys it.

Don't know whether this is good or not. Doesn't really matter, as firstly it's the only option for me, and secondly I get a fixed amount from the company towards whatever vehicle I choose, and this is based on a chosen benchmark car within the scheme. If I choose that car, then I guess it's zero cost (excluding any tax incurred) each month. So for me, cost wise, I would look at would be the difference between the Leaseplan cost and the monthly contribution from my company.

The above probably doesn't help, but I didn't want to be rude and ignore your question.

£450 a month sounds a lot, if you are covering 35k a year then it's about right I guess but if you only cover 12k then it's expensive.

You think that's expensive. Our previous lease company (Masterlease - shudders at the mention of their name), were charging more - My current lease (FR CR 170) is costing more that the quote for the MK3!

Being mildly curious, I did a quick search. Googled seat leon lease > first result > leasecar.co.uk > 3 year lease ~ £285 + VAT for 10K and excludes maintenance > added maintenance, 20K (my miles), 18's, metallic paint = ~£440 (inc VAT), plus the initial payment is 3 months (we pay 36 x equal payments for a 3 year contract) , i.e. ~£1300 (followed by 35 x £440).

As I said, this was just a quick search, and the price wasn't far off £450. Don't know whether this covers tyres, my lease does, and (18") tyres for a Leon ain't cheap. A colleague of mine has an A4 3.0 TDi, does approx 40K miles per annum, and sometimes only gets 10K from a set!

I've no doubt that there are better deals if you look harder, and tailor it for your needs.

Whether it is a bit expensive doesn't really matter, as the the money I get is against a benchmarked car. If the Leon was cheaper then, the benchmarked car would be cheaper, and the contribution from my company would be less.
