Dont wanna sound stupid but the guide seems to show the problem being in the fron passenger footwell but mine is in the rear drivers side. I ask this as my mate had done wot this guide suggested and didnt solve problem. I also heard the feed 2 the rear wiper squirter can cause wet inside some how, is this true??

If you car is anything like mine, the front doors leak at the rear part of the door (just at the curve) and go into the rear footwells.
The guide is correct,
Just had exactly the same problem last week, fetched about 3 litres of water out the carpet and wadding of the rear drivers side of my 2004 LCR, re patched the door seal with VW cord and all is now good (Fingers Crossed). No water on my sill anymore either.
One tip is get the rear seats out and pull the carpet forward as much as possible, the water gets everywhere, took a good hour the get rid of the main bulk of it all.
