I painted my Brembo's on my Megane225 by myself.

I used a spray gun, and I removed the calipers from the discs but not from the hose.

It took me 3 days to do the whole job.

I regretted not removing them completely and taking them to a local paint shop, would have been easier, cheaper and faster in the end. So my advice is to get them done properly.

Oh, and get the calipers sanded smooth.

I can see on the pictures that the paint is thick and has made them smoother but they would look great if you sanded them first.

The metal is textured anyway which is part of the problem. I sprayed my last set on my scooby and turned out great but didnt want to start playing around with brakes as this is the first car ive had with fantastic brakes. Plus was only really trying to tidy it up a bit. Although it looks a bit rippled in the pic its nowhere near as bad in person. The problems not the paint or finish its the stupid clip that has to lever against the paint upon completion. The only way round it is to let paint cure fully before refitting, but I havent got that amount of time and dont want my car on stands for it either. No matter what the paint is likely to be damaged but probably wont lift off due to being soft like this time.

I want to do mine red. But seeing so many people do them red makes me think differently. Want a different look. Thinking purple and then purple alloys. My car is a Black FR.

I had the same thought however I obviously wanted a subtle change and other colours stood out too much, partially because people are used to seeing red. It depends what you want to achieve, if you want it to be lary get something like orange calipers. But either way dont match the wheel and caliper colour otherwise they will clash

Cheers mate. My wheels are anthracite grey at the moment. Any thoughts on best colour to use?

I actually prefer the less is more look, but there is thread on here for the guy who wanted candy red they were nice. Either that or just google Black car red wheels etc. Obviously changing the colour as required and browse a few of the image results

Done the back ones today. Didn't bother removing them as didnt want to disturb anything. Few little bits of paint to remove off disc etc when things have cured but thats it.

Got one more front to do and then need to touch up the damaged one

Slowly beginning to wish I never bothered. My front calipers are literally covered in years of dirt and dust despite the brush I give them each time I do the car. Takes ages just to get them clean enough for paint. Would be easier just to remove and spray them as doing it with a brush takes ages and means have to take main body off just to paint carrier. Then it just gets damaged putting it back on as paint takes so long to harden. Anyway hopefully will be done soon, annoying having to do a bit at a time due to work. Another night on the axle stand it is.

I have my white Cupra for the next 3-4 days and it had red calipers, picking up a red Cupra R at the end of the week and had red calipers also... Hmm not sure if they should be red..... I also have red hair - I'm thinking it's too much!

Finally got them finished today. Not perfect but not too bad.

What are your thoughts, did I make the right decision painting them?
