Didn’t want to start another exhaust thread! Does anyone know if the 290 back box will fit directly onto a 280?

Fancy a bit more of a sporty sound without paying the earth for a system.

I did put this on the Facebook group but you don’t get any replies unless you’re talking about res deletes, mpg or ps4’s

If you mean a pre facelift 290 and not the new WLTP facelift then yes.

However you may as well just get a centre box delete. :)

I do indeed. Centre silencer is gone already so if I get a 290 back box then that gives me a 290 set up on the 280 and is the same back box as the clubsport S (I think). I have read that the 280 has a 2.75inch system and the 290 has a 3inch??

The resonator is 100% staying, drone would do my head in

Just seen that there was a thread about this a while back which I heavily contributed to... apologies.

I have a 5 week old child, I don’t remember my own name at the moment!

I have both deleted and there is very little drone, at cruising speeds there’s none, sitting about 85 there is a slight done however this is hardly the end of the world..

It’s still surprisingly quiet with both off to be totally honest.

Fitted the Racingline springs. But if a mission doing it on your own a could use a 2nd pair of hands but not too bad.

Comparison to the wife’s GTI standard ride height which was the same as the cupra before

Finally got around to sorting out the lower front grille and add sensor. Bought the various bits required, including the lower grille and started attempting to fit.

The grille was a pain to remove, due to the position of the fastening clips i decided to take a hacksaw to the inner part to expose the clips so I could get round and take it out without damaging the bumper.

Eventually got it out, gave it a superficial wipe and re-fitted the acc sensor with new bits.

After plugging it back in, and a fault
Code reset courtesy of Carista acc and stop/start we’re reporting normal once again.

Putting the new grille on was, thankfully, considerably easier than taking it off. Hopefully it’ll be a while before it needs to come off again

Hello mate,
Thanks for the breakdown, very useful.
I recently hit a pheasant in my FR ..of course dead centre of front grill.
I am now getting front assist not available etc.
The sensor doesn’t look to be damaged, but there seems to be a little up/ down play if I press on it.
Did you buy a new mounting bracket?
Also was it difficult to reset fault codes?
I have obd eleven pro coming this week so
wondering if that will do the job?

Cheers

The sensor itself seemed ok in my case, but the plastic supports, from cover and mount piece were shattered. So they required replacing. I used Carista to reset the fault codes and it has worked well (ish) since then. I do appear to have another problem related to my front lights that will disable the front assist after around a few minutes of driving though... haven’t bothered to get round to fixing that yet.

Depending on how much space there is in the grille to fiddle, it might be worth checking to see whether the connector at the bottom is dislodged too.

Yes you can, I had to do that to replace it, however, in my case it was very fiddly, due to the shape of the clips used to secure it. Given I was getting rid of my old one I eventually took a hacksaw to the middle piece so I could get my hand round to detach the clips.

That being said I don’t believe you need to bother to remove it, as the plastic part of the lip effectively ends at the point it meets the lower grille, so I’d be inclined to leave it and wrap up to the intersect between the lip and the grille.
