Highly reccomend getting a Sanef tag for anyone driving on a long journey through France (they do them for Spain too).

Charges may seem a lot but for the time it saves it’s worth it. No more queuing and the looks on English and even French drivers faces when they see an English car drive straight through the tag lane is priceless!

That's a bit harsh... Care to elaborate?

If you are talking about their toll system in particular, I used it this summer during my trip there were I did a load of road travelling and it worked flawlessly (?)
What I mean is that the Algarve motorway, in particular, offers no pay at the gate booths should you not have a "tag".
You have to go to a post office to pay a day or two later, impossible to do if you have since left the country.
 
My first attempt at a full exterior detail today, clay bar the works. Don’t think it turned out bad for a first go.

Looking good Mike :1st: :cloud9: Did you use the claybar for tar spots? My leon is covered in them and need to remove.

Being a bit of a noob I used the fallout remover which also managed to loosen off a lot of the tar spots so what was left after rinsing it came off with the clay. Probably not ideal and I should invest in some decent bug and tar remover to add to my growing collection.

It was refreshing turning it off originally, but without the windows down there is very little sound all.

Can't wait to collect the DSG 290. I'll not need it in that.

Decided to colour match (roughly) my engine cover to the car with the one and only plasti dip as I have a fear of commitment and my own quality of work:bleh: . I think it turned out pretty well. The finish is far from perfect but it'll look good for the couple minutes I have my bonnet open every month and for photos of course.

Has this been done before? Due to the engine temperatures and namely the Turbo proximity, I would assume it would melt, no?
I haven't seen it done in a Cupra yet. Plasti dip is actually pretty heat resistant once cured. I wouldn't advise it but people dip their brake calipers and it stands up to that. Plenty videos of people dipping exhaust tips too with no issues. An engine cover will be grand .

Slightly off point here but I see you have the gas struts for the bonnet. Why does no one when they do this done remove the original bonnet stay? is it a pig to remove or something?

Please sir i removed mine, but that is only because the guy fitting the new air intake system could not be bothered to put it back in so its in my shed soon to be up for sale on the bay of e :)

Reality is we are all so excited about the stays we forget

My reasoning was I'd leave the struts on for a few months to make sure they don't fail before I remove the arm. Nice to have a backup in case of failure. You've reminded me now so it'll be off tomorrow. Cheers lad!

It took 9 working days to do. Went through Seat Ensurance for the claim and they chose the recommended Seat Approved bodyshop near to me, had a loan car provided as well.

Did you do this yourself or did you use a kit from eBay... £80 from eBay seems a bit steep to me considering it's just two gas struts and a couple of brackets. Probably most of the cost is due to shipping from Russia
