It’s 6 holes, 2 on top either side and 1 at the bottom.

It wasn’t difficult to fit, it’s just patience. The hardest part was cutting the plastic trim to fit around the brace. I’ll order new trims to fit later on and use my current ones as a template.

I’d have the s3 subframe on mine if it worked with the RacingLine engine mount :(

I thought it was only the carpet that needed cutting. But taking a closer look to your photo its obvious that you have to cut the plastic too. Can you post a photo from inside of the car with seats down to see the drilled holes and trimmed plastic? Do you have any feedback regarding feel or not just yet due to lockdown?

Why doesn't the racingline one doesn't fit with the s3 subframe?

I bought an s3 subframe with sway bar just right now for 140€ including shipping.

The RacingLine dogbone mount states it’s not suitable for use for aluminium subframes - I’m assuming because of how harsh it is?

I’ve not managed to test the car properly yet - been on a short drive and car feels a bit tighter round bends at speed. Nothing else to report just yet.

I took these photos during the install, not sure if it helps:

Proper annoyed with myself today. Had a puncture and have a fire stone tire adding which will be an odd one out.

Completely forgotten I was thinking of getting some eagle f1s or ps4s. What would you do now. Got one brand new tire and was guna get them all changed to a decent brand. Ahhhhh!!! Wish I knew and could have had at least one done of the set and the rest done with the same brand eventually.

fire stones f580s worth a full set to match and last a while or should I wait a few months and get a full set or bar one of eagle f1s?

Thanks for the photos. You placed it over the carpet, you didn't cut it? I didn't know that about the racingline mount. As far as the plastic trimming I guess you could have done it a bit better as you said! :bleh: :coolthumb I don't know how easy it would be to measure it and cut a hole with a hole cutter or a step drill for the tube and then cut the plastic in two horizontal lines and place it again. I don't know if you can understand what I am saying. I don't know if its possible to do it and of course everything is always easier behind a keyboard. If I buy one I will try it though. The shipping cost is killing me and is holding me back. 85£ for shipping is way too much for me.

Well I’m ordering new bits of plastic trim anyway, so I can use the ones I’ve got as a template to tidy it up. I used a dremel to essentially cut and sand the plastic into shape. Then got a bit tired of the back and forth so gambled and took too much off :(

Once I drilled the holes and put the nuts in the holes, I placed the carpet back over everything and then used a screw driver to pierce a hole for the screw. I then used a knife to cut a tiny hole to allow the screw to pass through to the nut. (Hopefully that makes sense)

Yeah I understood how you marked the carpet for the hole. Regarding the plastic trim I don't know if a Dewalt laser would do the trick for marking the hole of where the tube goes through it. Masking tape on the carpet outside of the area that the plastic clips on with strut also on obviously and then marking with the laser. Then strut off plastic on and you find the center of the hole for the tube on the plastic trim. Drilling, cutting of the plastic etc. That's how I would do it.

Took the opportunity of the lockdown to replace the timing belt and serpentine belt kits, not the worst i have ever done but not the easiest either. Timing belt was coming up six years old but only done 37k, it was slack and was well polished and only showed minor cracking to the tooth roots and the backing surface, so didn't look like it would have given up any time soon, but you can't see the internal structure of the belt so i played it safe. Locking tools are required and make the job a lot easier and safer. Good practice though as i will do the Golf next year.

Gave it a proper wash, vacuumed the inside, gave the leather parts some leather soap.
Changed back to summer wheels
Would have removed the number plate frames, but the plate itself is screwed to the frame, which then again is screwed to the car.
So holes dont match if i remove the frame :censored:

Went to check the car, been sat there for weeks, went to push it a bit to avoid flatspotting tyres....found a large windscreen crack first (probably large ish branch fell on it), called to find out who's my insurer's approved glass repairer. Found out that I'm not an indicated key worker, so they won't be called out to replace the glass with no indication when they can eventually, so car will be sat there another month or so, forgot to push the car!

Reset service and inspection message as I cannot get it serviced at the moment even though I'm a key worker.

Seen something a while ago. Behind the front plate, eazimods / others do a black wrap pre cut for this.

Anyone got a link

Don’t think they’re a very good fit tbh, easier to buy some and cut your own shape
