What does this button do?

Hey all,

I finally got hold of my new Leon 20VT... I love it ... and lost my Seat virginity.

After having it for two weeks, I'm still yet to work out what one button does. I found it by accident after hovering out the car. It's located on the drivers side on the base of the pillar down beside the seat. It has a picture of a car with radio waves coming from the roof.

The hover nossel managed to pull it off But I can't find anywhere in the manual that describes what it is.

Is this an alarm switch?

The car is querky (bless it), as it was originally aquired in the Netherlands (although a right-hand drive). I'm guessing this is an odd model as it has full leather/heated seats and not badged as a Cupra but is the Cupra spec - it has all the facelift trimmings and 180BHP engine etc. So im guessing this button may not be standard to this model.

Can anyone help me spread some light on this please?

Hmm... I thought it had something to do with an alarm, but I havent been able to work out what the difference is when i press it. I just found a post with a similar type question.

Dont press it ever! It turns on the sensor system for your air flow and exhaust emissions and if you press it i guarantee that within a week your engine light is on an your on here posting for vag com help, thinking that your life is over! Or not. In all honesty Ive never seen it. Press it and see!

When you say its on the pillar, do you mean the pillar between the doors? if it is im sure its nothing important, as your kids could turn it on and off while your driving!

talking about silly buttons, who had fun trying to open the fuel cap the first time they needed to fill up? I didnt, honest!

it turns off the ultra-sonic sensors inside the car. SAy if you have a dog and want to lock it in without the alarm going off. Press it just before exiting then lock it. Obviously its not as safe!

......but it does reset when you open the doors again

You can lock the wife up now & feel safe doing so !

Yeah its on the pillar between the front and rear doors. I'll give it a go somewhen when the mother is waiting

Your all Wrong!
It resets the ECU so any remap that you have is lost!
It also releases any fuel left in your tank onto the floor!

Chris, Im glad you managed to say what needed to be said in a polite and pc way. But you may wish to look up the word friggin as its meaning is not completely sanitary, check the old sex pistols song 'friggin in the riggin'.

boys if im not mistaken, the UK models dont have the sensors turned on?!

i had to turn mine on thru VAG-COM as it was disabled so that little button wudnt work
