The gt tsi is twincharged

Might have been in the Mk6 but now its not. Both use the same brand new belt drive 1395cc all alloy engine. The only difference is the Golf has ACT which theoretically saves a thimble of fuel once a blue moon.

Exact same power and torque in both cars.

ACT seems like a lot of R&D for very little pay off.

You would save more fuel just by wearing thinner/lighter shoes while driving every now and then (I heard 0.5 litres for every 100 miles!)

Tbh id be sceptical of act because of the complexity of the engine, thats alot of moving parts! Time will tell

New one here for me.....

Even in semi auto yohr still not in full control of the gear selection with the DSG box...... it will only do what you tell it when it wants to and it will cut in and change up when accelerating before you may actually want to shift.

Here's another that I have confirmed today.....

Drive along in the hot weather with your sunroof open and get ouf the car thinking 'is that bird sh*t on my roof?' Only to realise that the excess grease flicks off the sun roof runners and onto your nice clean roof......

Not a Mk3 owner so I guess to some degree my opinion counts for feck all, but I have to agree with WeeG that it's not a pretty car, it really does just look like a big Mk5 Ibiza.

But then having said that I didn't like the Mk4 Ibiza when that first came out, then they introduced the face lift and I ended up buying one, didn't much care for the Mk2 Leon when that first came out either but the shape grew on me and they released the face lift and R model and I ended up buying one, so there is a good chance that when they eventually do a face lift model and bring out an R that I will be very interested in that, if previous experience is anything to go by anyway ;)

The air-con doesn't seem as powerful as my mk2, has anyone else noticed this or am I imagining it? It's very hot today so maybe I'm wrong but I drove around all the time with it on max and although I felt coolish, I certainly wasn't cold.

You can set the Air Con to be either low, medium or high. Or something like that. I think if you are in eco mode, it doesn't operate at full power. I can't remember exactly where or what the setting names are, but it is something like that. Press the setup button in the middle near the Auto button on the actual controls and it is in there.

Thanks. But does max not mean max and override everything else?

I thought that max overrides everything as if you press it while stop start is active it de-activities it until max is turned off....

On mine the maximum setting overrides everything else and switches on the recirculation setting to speed up cooling, although I find the stop start still cuts the engine even at max. At first I thought maybe the air con compressor was electric so didn't need the engine on, which would be sensible on a car with stop start , but its not it runs off the engine

Fascinating fact. If you switch off the ignition with it in max, when you switch it back on it starts at 22 no matter what temp you had it set before. At least mine does. That's the Spanish for you, they probably view that as a bit nippy.
