well, i havnt really had this motor for very long.
but there was a flat spot, also seemed have power loss

well, to day i found out why.
1) this was simple, wrong plugs. so put a set of ngk platinum in :)
2) 2 of the plugs wasnt even in proper??
3) becouse of the plugs not in proper, the coil packs wasnt even in proper

one of the water hoses were loose, dodgy spring clip. then the oil leval was lowish.
the guy i got this motor off, said he was a macanic, and builds cars???

so far i've spent quite abit to get the car right, once the right bushes turn up. i'll be fitting the rear axle, as that was bent very slightly.
had the wrong size tyres on, the front discs were warped. the track rods had play both ends. the cd changer was naff. and to top it all, the fob dont properly work

oh, and the bracket on the centre cection has come off, so rattles.
so far, every thing is about done. bar 3 things, the brack on the exhaust, the rear axle & the fob (that will be last)

so much for a good macanic hay....
wonder if the guy was gegisted on here???

Lol I kinda know how you feel, I got my cordy at a really cheap price but then the ecu was soaked causing wierd issues, the drivers seat was held up with a brick, the rear passenger window was held up with newspaper etc etc. I've since fixed loads on the car but there's always something else comes along, I don't know if it was kwik fit or a branch or what but somehow my new steering rack boot got burst and I have to drive through a huge muddy puddle to get to my house and of course the dirty water went in and wore out my rack at one end so now I need one of them. Onwards and upwards though as I have a set of new nozzles coming from the states fitted and balanced ready to put in and give me another 20bhp and some extra torque.:)

yep. it does take the p***

mine runs quicker, after finding what was up.
i took the guys word, but after finding this issue with the plugs. i think im going to check the belt

lucky in one way, i do know cars. and do every thing my self.
but its still depressing after just getting a car, to find its a reck

It's not a wreck, just in need of some tlc but like you said you're cabable of doing it yourself so it's not to bad and the more you do and the better the car gets the happier and more satisfied you feel. My mate got hold of a corrado gti and he was getting really good mpgs but it wasn't running as well as it could, he did a service on it and discovered that 3 of the plugs were loose so he fitted a new set and now it goes like turd off a shovel but he only gets about 25 to the gallon lol. Seriously though don't let it get you down, just keep plodding away at it and it'll be good in the end.:)

yep, so true mate.
just gets my back up when i was asking the guy, and he was bragging about all the cars he does.

but asking him the oil grade, he didnt know (504.) dreading checking the belt really.
lucky ive done acouple of these, there not to bad to do. just the engine mount that does my head in

well as long as the forte turns up today, the service will be fully done.
i did a reset last night using vag-com. but i think with it working proper know i just have to get used to that little bit more torque, when pulling off

Sorry to hear it mate. she will be fine once you sort them issue. just needs a bit of tlc

the plan was to buy a desent car, try and get hold of the cupra r bumpers.
and that was it.

with all the little issues around the car, think the bumpers will have to stay.
but have to say, since changing alot of the parts, it drives very nice know
the rear axle aint done yet, but i am happy with it.

bit of a kick back finding the issue with the plugs yesterday, and the slight water leak on top.
buts its coming on well.

once its all done, i'll get some pics up

still want to really sell the plate that came with it.

...Y20 LEO...

that will fund my bumpers, either having them changed or resprayed.
i do spray when i can be bothered to. just not the best at it
