Hello guys.
I decided to buy Leon next year and I'm wondering what model seams to be best deal on second hand market as far as diesel engines are concern.

What model is best to buy and what engine is best to remap ??

Surely the concerns of the DPF etc on the PD engines outweighs this argument?

Not had any experience of remaps but I'd say the CR if keeping the DPF.

CR I believe you mean Copra R. Do they come with diesel engines up to 10 grand ??

If you are sure you want diesel then your options are

1.9tdi PD - oldest engine maps to 140ish. Only a 5 speed box.
1.6tdi CR - not a performance option really but maps to 140ish. Had a dpf.
2.0tdi PD 140 - these are the older engines and maps to about 180ish
2.0tdi PD 170 - not many maps available for this one due to various issues, but can map to 200+. Has a dpf.
2.0tdi CR 140 - newer smoother more linear and has a dpf. maps to 180ish
2.0 Tdi CR 170 - these best and most expensive diesel option, Unit 9 will tell you more about mapping this but well over 200hp even with dpf.

CR means common rail, introduced sometime in 2009 with the facelift. PD means pump duse injection, pre facelift only so cheaper.

The highest spec diesel is the FR or Supercopa FR. There is no Cupra diesel model this generation. 10k will probably find a half decent FR CR 170. Example

If you want performance and tuning options above all, have a look at Cupra 2.0TFSI models. Remaps to 300+.

Thanks Mike.

I was going to mention 2.0 Tdi CR 170.
I will be looking for car on summer time so I still have about 6 months. I bet 10k is enough to find good example. I also want car with less than 30k miles and FR model.
Removing DPF is possible but I will have to look how much it would cost me and what benefits are.

Does SE model come with diesel engine that make sense and reacts good to remap ??

I'm going to negotiate on price very hard. People value their cars without even checking real value and other come and just pay :)
Having cash in hand makes the whole transaction a lot easier.
For example, this year I got Focus, diesel 57 plate with 85k miles for 2 grand. Car valued £3100 on auto-trader. Before I choose this one I viewed about 15 to 20 cars within 4 days

I found few examples of Leon on auto-trader 12 plate, FR+ 2.0 diesel 27k for less than 10k pounds and would also negotiate on this one but I need to wiat till summer time
