A 2006 model will almost certainly be the PD engine. As far as I know the Common Rail engine wasn't generally available before 2008/2009.

I had a pd in my passat this was a good strong engine does the same count for my fr.

Yes, SEAT (and SKODA) are part of the VW/AUDI group and share the same engines. The PD engine in your FR will be similar to the PD engine in your Passat, although probably factory tuned to be more sporty and possibly more powerful at 170PS.
