what happened?

Out and about in my altea 2.0tdi dsg sport yesterday and went to overtake a couple of cars on a dual carriageway and initially everything was normal but then all power was gone. I had foot to the floor and although engine was revving & gear box was kicking down & changing up there was just no power almost like it had gone into get you home mode. No warning lights or anything. Once I got to my destination & turned it off & came back to it 5 minutes later turned the engine on & everything was back to normal no further issues. I checked under bonnet for anything obvious but there was nothing. Oil level was fine. I had just filled up with diesel.

Any ideas?

It might have gone into limp mode. Get it scanned and see if there's an overboost fault stored in there.

Would this be something that could happen again or engine just protected itself from that particular situation & perimeters?

It's usually a result of the vanes in the turbo sticking and it will possibly happen again I'm afraid.

Oh bugger. Potentially new turbo then?

You can try millers Eco max and a good hard Italian tune up to free them off.

Cool I'll give that a go. A lot of good reviews on the Millers eco max. Hopefully that will clean things up a bit.

Can anyone else recommend a good fuel system cleaner like millers eco max and what about a cleaner specifically for the turbo? I guess if you found two different cleaners you could not use them at the same time. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Looking at Archoil products lots of good reviews and they do a fuel system cleaner and turbo cleaner. Any experience?

Before u go and buy cleaners that may be a waste of money as u may not need them , get it scanned as there should be a code stored in memory then go from there . Theres no point in guessing whats wrong until u scan

Check your turbo hoses... May have popped one off under hard acceleration.
