what Is The Tank Vent Valve

hi guys got car vag com'd abd told me that the n80 17834/p1426 was open which is the tank vent valve open, anyone know how i can solve this prob and what it would do to my car??

assuming it's petrol, I guess it's the charcol canister to tank valve, just a guess

any ideas where i'd find this on the car mate?

If I'm right, the charcoal canister is low down at the front of the engine bay, it has two pipes one is the tank vent tne other goes to the vent valve just a few inches away and then onward to the (usually) throtle valve housing. I you work on this be carefull not to create a spark if you have the pipes off (petrol vapour)
