Hi could you tell me what kind of ecu is in a 2003 1.8T cupra?

Is it a edc15, edc16, ME7 or ME7.5???

Please reply as soon as please...;)

ok was looking into getting a kwp2000 to flash my ecu, but the guy has told me that i would need to solder 3 wires inside the ecu??? Now that seems bit strange considering, tuning companies don' need to, bit strange that it lists the ecu in its compatible list if this is required to flash it.

Surely its just an obd job?

Has anyone ever flashed a ME7.5 with out doing this???

I'm looking into this aswell. I think that you'll need the KWP2000 + (Plus), but until I try it myself I couldn't say if it will work!

Can anyone help us find the right flasher unit, cables and software to read and write remaps for the Leon Cupra R ECU ME7.5?

nah bad idea, the ME7.5 doesn't like being flashed with kwp2000+

The software isn't compatible with it, and it requires removing the ecu from car and soldering 3 wires aparently, not worth the risk,

If you looking for a cheaper remap then try Bell Auto Services, he's got his own section on here nothing but praise on these forums...

only true way of doing it yourself is the expensive way...either byteshooter or optican but your looking at about £3000-4000 for this equipment...

Do you know this for a fact? or are you going on the other guys word?

The KWP2000+ says it is compatible with my ME7.5.

Can anyone else help please?

i emailed 2 of the sellers on ebay about them, they both said no it would work, one of the guys told me it required soldering 3 wires to get it to read/write, so he was losing out on a sale by telling me that so i think must be some truth to it.

I have been looking around alot of websites, and the only things that seem to work are the expensive pro tools :( would really like to do this my self, would be really interesting...

The leon cupra in question is a ME7.5. 1meg flash

bosch number 0261208115
software number 1037366379

Even the £4000 OBD tools used by tuners sometimes require on the bench tuning by connecting directly to the ECU, so you wil struggle with a cheap tool.

Also, if the write fails, your ECU will be dead, and you wont have the equipment to recover the ID again, so the car wont start.
