Hi all,

Taking a 1.8T to 400BHP - I understand that the rods and Valves need to be uprated.

....but what exactly is the reason?

Are Supertech exhaust valves needed because the standard one's cannot take the heat?

....and has anyone actually taken the standard rods to High 300's? Are they def' a weak point?

Thanks

yes and yes
400bhp is higher rpm's and higher heat

std valves can and do fail, risking more ££ in damage than their cost. its building in a higher margin of safety

you can risk not doing it of course, but it is risk

Thank Bill.

What about Pistons? and compression Ratio?

Are the standard pistons strong enough for 400? and do you have to play with the compression ratio or not?

Thanks
