What sort of mileage would put you off?

Last two cars I had (a Nissan and a Citroen) died at 120k miles.

I say you're every lucky to get 130k out of a car, no matter how many people say they've driven to Pluto and back!

If thats your budget then you'll be lucky to get a low mileage one, Mines a 55 plate and now has 53,000 on the clock, bought it in jan with 38,000 on the clock, so with the mileage I do, it soon adds up :(

Talking of high mileage on VAG cars, I came back from a night out in Preston in an Octavia taxi, 51 plate with 374k on the clock. And it sounded and ran as sweet as a nut.

but then we get 58 plates with 60k coming in also.

my dads car is a 57 and already has 60k on the clock

i used to do 120k in may surveyor job, i got a new car every year usually top line superbs or octavias
they took the miles very very well considering they were in for service ever month or 2 but i wouldnt want 1 back, i beat the hell out of em

my cupra is on 111k hope it goes for a while yet, if my mums escort gti can do over 140k and had zero servicing in the last 30k!! and is overdue a cambelt by 25k! i'd hope these would knock along well

im now welding it up (chassis rails) and its also after a clutch so im building up a 2.0 with everything new stuck on it then ill drop in the whole bundle and with it a new lease of life

she doent want it any more (says its unreliable!) but its never ever let her down and gets no attention bar its mot when ist usually nodded thru

shame is she wants to spend 3k on another car but you get fook all for that these days, everything seems to be goin up
she wants 02 onwards, FSH under 80k and pref tdi, no chance!, shame as i had a 03 fiesta for £600 and got in on the rd with a 3k mile engine for £900 but she wont drive green cars so i outed it

most vags will go 200k if well serviced, obviously consumables like turbos etc dont last forever

I'm looking to spend around 6 grand.

In the last 2 years I've clocked up a total of just less than 10k miles, so over time the mileage should level out a bit.

After how many miles do the turbos usually go? And how much to replace?

And yeh, I am definately willing to travel for the right car.

id wait for the right one because i paid 6400 for mine on a 04 plate it only had 35000 miles on it. good things come to those who wait
