Isn't the wheel well on the ST big enough to take a full size 18" wheel with a 225/40-18 tyre? Much better than a space saver, but more expensive.

I was not able to fit the full size wheel into the bed. The floor in the high position was not aligning properly.

I had the same size tyres on my Seat Leon MK3.5 fitted with 18 inch performance alloys and used this dealer supplied kit. If fitted with performance braking (bigger calipers) maybe make sure with a dealer? (Also fits MK4):-

would any 125/70/18 wheel fit?

No.

The bolt pattern (PCD) must be 5x112 - anything different and the bolt holes in the space saver won’t line up with the bolt holes in the car’s wheel hub assembly so it won’t bepossible to fit the space saver on the car.

Have you spoken to your dealer’s parts department to quote you a price for a new space saver plus other parts that would form part of the space saver kit for your car?

You could also try forum sponsors @COX Motor Parts.

If you’re happy to have a used space saver, they do come up for sale on sites such as eBay. You could also try car breakers in your area.

There are other compnies that sell the complete kit of wheel + jack & brace (in a bag) for less than Seat.

Yes, the Road Hero space saver is one alternative option.

When I was considering buying my non-VAG car, the dealer offered Road Hero spare wheel kits as an option. However, for my car at the time I seem to remember it was a full size spare rather than a space saver and the full size spare took up valuable boot space. Like @Yern, I got the dealer to include an OEM factory space saver - which fits under the boot floor in the spare wheel well - as part of the deal 🙂.

For the Leon, one of the pictures at the link above shows the Road Hero spare wheel in a bag, and the accompanying kit (jack, wheel brace etc.) in a separate bag. From the pictures, the bagged space saver in the boot isn’t in the spare wheel well, but sitting on top of the boot floor, taking up boot space. Whether that means a Road Hero space saver won’t physically fit in a Cupra Leon’s spare wheel well isn’t clear (maybe the pictures are generic and not Cupra Leon-specific?) but for anyone who considers buying this brand of space saver spare, it’s something to check out, especially if usable boot space is important to you.
