I am looking to get my Standard Leon speakers replaced as I've installed my new head unit and sub and already killed one of the rear door speakers

I thought the normal speakers would be OK as they sounded quite good when i first got the car for standard speakers... but now that Ive upgraded other components like sub and head unit, they really sound a bit naff.

So I've been looking about and have been recommended to use Infinity or Focal?

I asked in my local Car audio shop Sextons and asked how they Focal compare to infinity speakers and was told they are in the same league and that the focal's mite be a bit better?

Can any one comment on Focal speakers??? Or what do you recommend?

Thanks very Much

PS. What size are the Leon door Speakers as guy in shop he looked it up in a book and said they are 17cm so i will need spacers... is this correct... Cheers peeps:D

i have 2 sets of the older 2005 series rockford fosgate fanatix speakers and they sound the dogs. In the boot i have a JBL GT4-12, All powered by 2 JBL GT amps. :) it sounds the dogs

Genesis comps are pretty good. Yeah you do need spacers, you can get plastic ones from Halfords or make your own with some MDF.

Yeah that was my other choice! Genesis comps Very Good, mate had them in his last car... Where did you get them from?

Cheers

I took a gamble and got a used pair off ebay. I'm very impressed with their performance over the standard speakers and thats just running them off my Kenwood HU. I'd love to wire them up to a Genesis amp, but I can't be arsed! Heres a link to some dealers:

Has any one got the Focal 165 A1 in there Leon????

Not sure of the exact part numbers but i am running Focal 165A (dont know if there is anything after that!!!!) with the standard HU, been in the car for 2 1/2 years now with no issues :)

Sound a lot better than standard comp's, a lot clearer when on non-MP3 music and the bass is a lot tigher - they do "sound" quieter than standard but thats just because they are so much clearer.

Got 'em, back & front. Only fun bit is fitting the tweeters as that involves the Dremmel

I've read quite a few reviews on the Focals 165 A1 and all very Good

But I'm wondering what they compare to the Infinity Kappa 65.7cs as i have not heard them...?

It's not difficult .. just time consuming - and you WILL break some of the door clips :)

Hardest part is removing the interior trim in the right order, for the record the tweeters in the kenwood component kit fit directly into the tweeter locations in the door panels.
