What to do on (lease) delivery?

Hi All

I'm waiting for my 2.0 245 since June through Leasing Options, and apparently, it should be delivered to me in December.

As this is my first lease, and my first new car purchase in the UK, what should I expect or do on the delivery day?

1) I was told upon ordering the car, that I'll be able to choose - paid trailer delivery or free car drop off. My dealer is in York, I live in London. Which one would you recommend?

2) Is there a form to be signed, confirming the condition of the car when it's dropped off at my address? Should I take detailed photos of the car on the day, or do I have time to spot any issues (paint chips etc) and escalate to Leasing Options?

3) Are there any accessories that I should expect: spare tyre or tyre fix kit, original floor mats, 2 keys, manual etc?

4) I've seen that some people have Cupra merchandise, like cables, coffee mugs etc., is that added to the car?

5) Would you guys recommend getting paint and/or tyre insurance, from tidyalloys or a similar company, in order to have a stress-free lease?

Thanks in advance!

1. Let them deliver it, just easier and cheaper tbh.

2. When they drop off, you should go over the car body just like you are buying it. Concentrate on dents etc. They will make you sign to say you accept the condition. But they will expect you to be taking your time on those checks. it's usually immaculate when you get it, except road dirt from the journey. These guys are experts and will have fully checked the car before they leave anyway.

3. Two keys and they will walk you through all the accessories during handover.

4. You might get a pack in the boot. I got a alternative colour case for one key. But nothing exciting like a cap or mug.

5. It's your call really, I did on my very first lease. Had the full wheel and scuff insurance (did myself independently). Didn't use it though. They expect some wear and minor wheel scratches during the handback. So really your call. If you regularly hit curbs, then get it. I haven't for my last two cars, but I have to say, the formentor vz2 ones look scarily expensive.

Enjoy your car. The waiting game is a killer. One of mine was so delayed, I ended up tracking the car shipping ships to try to predict it. As was delayed at shipping port.

When I got my first lease I had it driven to be delivered Mainly because I didn't want to waste my annual mileage just driving the vehicle back home.
Delivery was easy.
Didn't see the point in trailer delivery unless you want to be the first person to put that mile number 2 on the car.

Checked it over and it was fine. Like the person said above, just road dirt.

I strongly recommend that whenever there is an issue with the car to go to a dealer and get it sorted whilst it's under warranty. Any issue at all.

York is quite far, so probably trailer is better. I had car delivered on wheels from Leeds and it had 220miles on a clock. It was perfect and I had 40K miles allowance total, so wasn't worried about delivery miles. Every other car came on flat bed or I collected it myself.

Just check it all over, like it's yours. If you find something, let the delivery guy know and he will note it on paperwork.

Thank you @TheUkWizard , @Wheres_My_Car , @Agnes.Surrey : might need those tips sooner rather than later;

Leasing Options sent an email that the car is expected in December, upon request chased a dealer and came back with 'its in the UK port', and hours later (!) called that the dealer has it & it's time to sign the docs.

Good news then and I'm happy that they stay in contact, but it just shows that these are messy times when it comes to delivery.
