Hi everyone, I’m currently in a predicament, my 2008 Leon 1.4 tsi has started making a whining like noise in first and second which is quite loud, u can hear it a bit on idle and when I press the clutch in it goes quite.

Now I’m meant to be getting a new car at some point this year, the Leon drives fine no problems or warning lights on but Iv already got one car going to cost a fair bit of money to fix and I don’t fancy spending a fortune on another one when I meant to be getting rid of it.

Just wondering what you think
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks

From your description it could be the clutch release bearing has failed. However it could be afew things but you’ll need to remove the gearbox to inspect it for a clearer picture so it’s going to cost a fair bit in labour to remove and refit the gearbox plus repair whatever has failed.

Hi thanks for the reply, i did think it was that, I know it’s going to cost just don’t know if it’s worth fixing it, with the car not being worth much.
I can’t afford 2 big repair bills at the moment so i wonder how long it will last before it goes completely
